I`ve been to look at a `39standard coupe. It`s not too bad and i`m tempted. It`s just that I`m not in love with the front end and was wondering if `39deluxe front panels would interchange without major surgery?Anybody done it or is it totally different?

Thanks.

I'm not positive, but I believe you will need the fenders, grill and hood from a Deluxe. All the "interior" sheet metal for the front end should be the same. No surgery. Just bolt it up.

Sorry guys the cowl is different. I looked at a coupe that had been cobbled up pretty bad by someone doing that very swap.

I'm not saying it can't be done by someone who knew what they were doing but it's still alot of work, And you would probably need the cowl pieces for a 39 deluxe or a 40 coupe. And the 40 could be either standard or DeLuxe.

I parted out a 38 standard coupe that was really awful. I may have some parts for you.

The '38 Deluxe/'39 Standard are an aquired taste...we used to make stock cars outta them 'cuz they were so UGLY...now I love 'em!! BTW...I've got a '39 Standard two door sedan for sale...complete but rusty floors and rear quarters...factory radio...flathead runs...HAMB price $2000.00

I really wanted one about a 6 weeks ago. Was going to buy MrGasser's '38 Deluxe coupe, but it was way beyond my abilities. I wouldn't mind having one someday. Luckily I didn't get it cause I got another '36! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Kev, if I pass on it, I`ll give you the info,You would not believe what this guy has...he lives over the top of his big workshop/garage and it`s full of tasty stuff.A friend of mine bought a NOS flathead off of him(not one of the French ones),
