Hi,
I'm retired military, and civil service. I have been interested in hot rods, and custom cars since I was a teenager. I am an old fart(born 1938). I was reading the small edtion of Rod, and Custom magazine in the 1950's.
Since retiring, I have bought a 1966 Chevy pick-up, and recently a 1940 Chevy Business Coupe. I have been getting the '66 fixed up mechanically so I can drive it, but it still needs some rusty panels replaced. I haven't done anything with the '40 yet, except to stare at it, and plan it's future. I want to turn it into a Rat Rod. I heard of your forum on a recent edition of My Classic Car's coverage of the Hunnert Car Pile-up, and decided that this is the place I wanted to join.:D

Welcome, but you gotta know we're not into Rat Rods here. As a matter of fact it's a bad word. Rat Rods are unsafe rusty POS's. What we're into here is Traditional Hot Rods and Customs. Cool old cars as they were back in the day. Well engineered and well thought out. Not necessary to have shiny paint but fix the rust, and make it a safe and reliable old car. Do yourself a favor and sit back and read a lot of what's posted here, You'll get an idea of what it's about.

WOW! Thanks for the welcome. Sorry I used the wrong language. People I know build cars just like you describe, and still call them rat rods. Maybe it's a local thing. I had no intention of building anything unsafe. I'll try to stay under the radar, and stay out of trouble.
