Hi,
Driving home from work I spotted an old truck on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it. I thought I'd stop the next day and have a look at it. The next day I drove past it again and again made a note to myself to stop the next day and look at it. Finally Friday night arrived and over dinner my wife asked me if I had noticed the old truck on the side of the road. We agreed it looked good from afar and after dinner we went to have a look. Petra asked me if I'd buy it and my reply was "if the price was right" "What would be the right price?" "$3,500 or so"
The next day we drove home the 1949 Chev 3800 one ton truck. I haven't figured out what we are going to do with it. It's in amazing shape, runs with very little coaxing, but is leaking oil out of every orfice.
So now I am figuring out what the truck needs to become. I am currently thinking it would be great to restore it to a 5 year old truck, maybe put a bigger 6 in it or make the little stovebolt breath a bit better. She will do 50 MPH on the highway and it's 30 miles to town so I'd love to make it go at least 60MPH.
Anyway that's my story.
Albert
