Well I have been a guinea pig and have been testing out those cool new floats from http://www.stromberg-97.com/. These things are nice. No sinks. So far I strongly recommend over those brass pieces of crap.

Man that's cool that they are remaking those parts! Thanks for the product review!

I just emailed the guy, Clive Prew, at the website and asked about them. He told me they only have prototypes and If I would like to test them out. I said sure so he sent me 3 for free. The floats I got are nor flourinated so they won't last forever. He told me the floats would be around $20 each. A little more than a brass one but they are guarenteed. I have 5 bad brass ones if you want. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif I got an email from him the other day so here it is. They come from across the pond so they have to go through customs.

Hi Kevin.,

Good to know they’re working OK.

The production ones will be fluorinated. And I am going to give a lifetime parts guarantee with them to the original purchaser.

They should not deteriorate enough to make them not work properly unless new gas formulations get even more toxic. Something you might find is that after a while if you take the float out and grab the hinge hard it might move slightly in the float molding – side to side. This is quite OK as the hinge is attached physically in the plastic molding so there is no way it can come out. This is just where the gas gets in between the brass and the plastic at that neck area.

Your samples have two half-round cutouts on each side of the hinge tag where it goes into the molding. Future examples will also have holes in the tag so there is even more of a physical capture on the thing.

We’re having real problems with an asshole supplier on the hinges so we’re still waiting on the last few from him before we can make the next back of moldings. I’m hoping for the end of this month. Future hinges will be make elsewhere. I’ll let you know when we’ve got some.

Thanks for your feedback. Please keep it coming!

Clive

Is a jet wrench blocking a fuel line traditional?

What kind of fuel pressures have you been running with the new floats?

3 psi, just like the brass floats.
