I have some repop WWII "A" Gas Ration windshield stickers (w/o glue) that I'll be glad to share for the price of a SASE. Just e-mail me if interested, and I'll tell you where to send SASE.

In 1943, with metal use being kept to a minimum, California drivers were issued this stickers for the windshield--
Very cool.

WOW, is that what that is?? I have an old windshield for my project that has an original one in the passenger side bottom corner....AWESOME!! I just thought it was a ww2 era DMV registration or something. THanks for posting this history on these!! on the back of mine it says something like " drive carefully, save gas and rubber, buy US war bonds" mine is dated 1944 and looks just like the pic of the one from Ca. you posted.

well mine are copier copies and then cut out and the installation instructions are either "scotch transparent tape or Staples tombow mono aqua liquid glue" ????
how are these repops of any?
I know it only cost me a stamp but that was the biggest waste of my time and money! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Several recipients have expressed dissatisfaction with their stickers. I'm not sure what was expected, but these were just something I put together in my spare time using the resources available to me (i.e., my computer and Kinkos). They were never intended to be anything other than reasonable facsimiles. My original post specifically stated they were without glue. In fact, none of the purported originals that I've seen had glue on them either. I'm not sure what they used back then, but I offered the best results of my experimentaion with various methods to attach them to the windshield. In any event, I'm sorry if anyone was disappointed.

There's no need to apologize. You were offering them free with a SASE.

I say: thanks for your offer!

IMHO, they look fine once applied to the inside of the windshield.

I think we should appreciate the effort that Fred put into this and offer them to whomever wanted them. They look just fine to me. Got one framed with other stuff in the shop and one for the car. NEAT
