I was cruisin' up to my sister's in Irvine and followed one of these ENZO Ferrari's for a few miles up I5. It was on the back of a flatbed tow rig...wow what a beautiful automibile. V12, 660HP, the fastest road car ever built by Ferrari...kinda makes you forget about anything "traditional"... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually that Miami Vice Ferrari Spyder knockoff was built on a 'vette chassis by Tom McBurnie right here in El Cajon. He still has a shop, Thunder Ranch, but he is building Porsche 550 knock-offs now...remember James Dean?

Try $600,000.
That's over one half-million dollars.
There was a test in either Car and Driver, or Top Gear, I forget where I read it. Hard to forget that price, though.
And I disagree as to sound. Having heard a few Ferraris in my day, I say there is nothing quite like the sound of a V12 on full song; a sound much like ripping canvas, a sound that says "I mean Business".

Charlie, you still haven't seen one on the road, I walked around one at a car show and that was the same thing it looked great sitting there dead.
A few years ago on a trip to southern calif. heading south to San Marcos pass I saw and heard and at song 64 Lamborghini Diablo's with a CHP escort (about 20 cops) traveling well over 100 mph led by Mario Andretti going to Monterey. I read later that it was every Diablo in the US except two what a show and sound I stopped and got out of the car to stupidfied to even grab my camera off the front seat http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I love ferraris. The 355 is still my fave late model ($120 grand is a little more realistic dream than $620!) I've driven next to an Enzo. Incredible. The word exotic doesn't even begin to describe how incredible it is. So out of place on the road with regular cars.

The Saleen S7 is pretty damn close. In fact Road & Track said,
"Peruse our data panel and you'll find the S7 is the quickest production car to 60 mph we've ever tested; at 3.3 seconds it beats even the almighty McLaren F1 by a tenth, though Gordon Murray's machine retains our official quarter-mile honors (11.6 sec. at 125.0 mph, versus the S7's 11.8 at 119.9). Through our high-speed slalom, it's one of two production cars on record to exceed 70 mph, remarkable considering its 78.3-in. width in a test that favors narrower cars. And on the asphalt centrifuge of the skidpad, it nearly touches a full g — 0.99 to be exact."
I haven't seen any of them in person but would probably shit if I did.

They are just OK....the Ferrari's that really sound badass are the V-12's from the 50's and 60's...those make the sound that makes you melt. Those Enzo's are overrated and too damn expensive. Have you ever seen a Carbon Fiber bodied car catch fire? And $70 a quart for oil?...I also seem to remember hearing a brake job costs around 20 grand....but if you can buy the car....the rest is small potatos(sp?, Dan Quail?) I guess. If Chevy could step up to the plate, they could easily make a car that quick...maybe not 0-60 as quick because the car would be heavier....but 600+ horse is so easy to obtain these days for so much less. Why even buy a Viper when you can use the 40 grand you save on the base car and put it into the mechanicals? O yea, I like those scallops on the photoshop!

the enzo has carbon rotors and disc, of ceramic, and a propriatory to the corner of the car, directional and the y cost 4 thousand for a rotor apiece, plus the bolts are not reusable for the calipers, and they can only be done with a factory guy there, the enzo is over the top,in order to own an enzo you have to have owned an f 50 in order to even get one, crazy cars,

My buddy painted the Ferrari in the background. It is some rare P3/P4 race car owned by Jim Glickenhaus. It is in one of the classy high end magazines right now. There was a guy from Ferrari hanging out for a couple of weeks while he painted it. They like to make sure things are done right. I bet it is true that a factory dude has to be there. It may even be Sal, he just goes around the country supervising stuff like this.
Ok, now tell us about the custom in the front...

I know when you replace the tires on an ENZO. you have to buy the whole wheel and all from the factory 10,000 each..
I used to work on Mclaren F1's when I worked out in New Jersey. Those things were 1.1 million each. One time one of the guys blew up the engine. it was 250,000. one guy tore up a Tranny it was like 70,000. The price for those cars is just insane. If I remeber the labor rate at the shop to do the work was 250 an hour.
I did paint work on them not the mechanical work. It was crazy working on that type of car.. Now I work on show cars and things like that for BMW and Rolls Royce. Those Show cars cost Way more than the production cars.
Ryan Didn't your neighbor in Texas have the first Maclaren F1 in the USA. Carty Beal??
