I recently was looking at some race cars and saw this suspention set up it got me thinking about alternative front suspentions.

Has anyone here fabricated their own specialized front suspentions that were safe and out of the ordinary but not out of place on a traditional style rod.

I recently found a 29 cab on a 51 ford frame for a price that is very enticing. I am trying to budget funds to make it mine.

Any and all help would be appreciated! Photos if ya got em!

This picture is by no means traditional but its what sparked my thoughts.

Looks pretty cool...

The other you could try is a Corvair/vette front end... they make some pretty slick parts for them! Company called vette brakes sells some wild combinations!

I built a pushrod suspension similar to the one shown, back in the mid '80s.Made my own hubs,
spindles, upper and lower A arms, steering arms, sway bar,tie rods. This was on a race car,so I made fixtures to reproduce all these parts.Even made my own brake calipers and leather wrapped steering wheel.Lots of work, never again. My next project will have a beam axle with split wishbones.Simple, cheap, and easy.

How about a torsion bar/friction shock front end set up like on a Kurtis Kraft Indy Roadster? I mean, that's gotta be trad, right?

If you wanna build an interesting rear suspension that's period correct, but on the wron continent, check out De-Deon-style rears... the pumpkin is mounted to the frame with articulated halfshafts like and IRS, but the hubs are mounted to what looks like a drop axle... the idea is that you get constant geometry like a solid axle, but less unsprung weight... especially if you go for inboard brakes (finned drums?).
