This car literally fell in my lap. A friend told me about this car cause he couldn't get the funds together. I called the guy and it wasn't for sale. I drove 6 1/2 hours 1-way to just to see the car and talk to him. By the time I got there he changed his mind and was ready to sell. The timing is awesome....My C5 6-speed 'vert just got wrecked so the Insurance company had just stuffed my pockets full of money so the deal was done in short order!!! Soooooo, making the same drive tomorrow with my trailer!!!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The car:
A 1934 5-window that was bought new in Dallas, Texas. It was built as a Rod around 1958 using the current engine, a 283 power pack from a 1957 chevy. It uses an adapter to the stock tranny and rear. The car has old roll-n-pleat, chrome garnish, and an awesome grill. The only rot I could find was in a homemade battery box. Unfortuanately the top and cowl was filled, but I'll fix that for sure. Around '69 or '70 the current set of wire wheels were put on the car.

The morale of this story is that these cars are still out there....you just got to be ready to move on them.

Pray for me guys....I'm about to break the news to my lovely wife!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well if your lovely wife says you just can't have it, I can hide it here in Michigan for you till things cool down and you can sneek it in the garage. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congrats bud, great find!

Just not something you can pass up. That thing looks great. The wife will give you the head shake and a word or two, but then she'll smile (while you arn't looking) because you look like a kid in a candy store talking about the car! (I hope) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I hope your wife will understand.
And if she doesn't, that car is worth getting in trouble for... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Reggie, good find!!!! I'll "store" it at my house if the wife freaks out http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm missing Pistons and Paint because of work. Last minute notice too. I had asked for tomorrow off. Oh well, it pays the bills. Lets hope I don't get robbed in San Antonio tomorrow or Sunday.

There's a sucker born every minute...you got taken Reggie, that car is worthless. You'd be lucky to get $500 out of that...might as well go pick it up though, since you've got a trailer. I'll send directions to a place where you can keep it so as not to take up space in your garage. They don't charge much for rent either...

The wife was cool. She said I had that "LOOK" when I left the house....but was thrown for a loop when I didn't hitch up what she calls "man's best friend"....my trailer. She gave me the normal reminder about the things around the house I haven't taken care of...but everything is cool!
No need to borrow the garages that were offered....thanks.

Here is a pic of one I really like.

Reggie...ya know how we always bushit around when we see each other? And how were always real nice to each other? Yeah, well that shit's over now, buck-o! Oh, sure. I put up with the rust-primered 5 window 32 you showed up with at the '03 HAMB drags when I didn't have one. And I tolerated the light blue 32, 3 window fairly well too but this shit's gotta end Reggie! I limp around in a 6 cylinder old Pontiac and you style around towm in these stellar, classic ford coupes! I mean, you can't drive 3 of 'em at once....ship me one. I'm not even picky.
Also, congrats on the new "baby".I just know it's gonna be black, full fendered and whitewalled. I wonder: Will you put a flathead in it?

There is no such thing as too many projects. Great score, 'course you know there aren't any old cars left out there, they've all been bought up. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When you pull that old 283 to put a flatty in let me know, would be a good fit for that old roadster I showed you in my tractor shed.
I didn't go to Pistons N Paint because I had to work on my 32. That complete car you saw a few weeks ago is now a bare frame with front & rear crossmember only sitting on 2 stands in the rear & one in the center of the front crossmember. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Its hard to believe that my favorite cars are fat fenders .... especially '46-'48 ford/mercs and '36 fords. I'm 6'3" and 260lbs, so it's kinda easy to see why. '32-'34s are relatively new for me.

I'm trying to shake this vision I have of a flat-motor in it....but it keeps popin in my mind. Eddie, you have first dibbs if the sbc comes out.

And those wires....I don't believe they are skylarks, but they are real wire wheels. LuckyStiff, drop me a PM in a couple of months 'cause they are coming off.

The worst thing about this is that I just realized I don't have a work car anymore. Hmmm.....Oh, well. Guess I'll be hitchin rides for a while. That truck Ryan has in the classifieds sure does look tempting.
