Does anyoine know if not running a heat palte on the manifold is bad for the motor, and or carb? Below are some pics of the opening right below the Carb, I don't see the need to have the plate. Am I wrong in thinking this?

could be a problem at cooler temps, as there is no other source for manifold heat...

You need it in cold weather to help keep the fuel atomized. If you have no heat to the intake the engine will run like shit & you'll experience poor drivability. In some cases frost will form around the base of the carb & intake manifold. Run a heat plate if you run headers.

I ran w/o mine last winter in my at the time, daily driver. last winter was a cold one for us texans... quite a few below freezing days. No problems. It might get colder where you are though.
