I plan on showing my burnout this Friday in Tulsa. Although I hope I can come out of the hole without slipping a tire. At Mokan I about saw the guardrail up real close. Tulsa has a lot better bite than MOKAN. :)Roy

I'll update my original post with yes and a little smoke:D Our car has a 200 Ford 6 (stock) with a 3 speed manual trans finally. Originally the car ran a best of 15.20 with the c-4 automatic but since making it a "Legal" HA/GR we have ran a 14.65 with no other change. Rocky

I brought this back before it falls off of the thread, I have been able to edit it, that way when you do your first burnout let me know and I will add it to the list. Please read the list at the top of this thread. The reason that I want to hear about your burnout is that I don't want to count a car that is not driving yet, some of those may never run. Thanks Joe

Joe has anybody contacted the guy who bought the last Ramrods car. I understand he has health issues and didn't or couldn't run the car. We should contact him and see if we can help him either run the car or help him sell it to someone who will. It is a shame that the car is wasting away somewhere and no one is racing it. Roy

Joe,

I see a few of them with times listed. Any more of them with times? Just not updated yet?

Or maybe just start another thread called. HA/GR roll call and performance.

I'd love to see that. And do it just like you have it here, but would show up better in searches.

We need to get the Auzzies <spelling?> in here and listed. Those dudes are hardcore and getting to the track real regular like.

Thanks,
-Bob

My kinda guy. The model-A in my avatar... doesn't leave my street unless I do that same thing every single time... I know it kinda makes me a street squirrel, douche bag to my neighbors... I don't care...:D Almost never anybody around... just me, the loud pedal, and an ear to ear grin.

I typically get about 100 miles on a set of tires.

Joe,
Just a reminder, there is no falling off the end. Most of us assume we only have two pages. Scroll down to the bottom of our main page, to "Display Options". The default setting is the show threads from the last two months. You can set that to "The Begining". We've got every thread that ever was (including all my old opinionated bullshit).

Hey Joe I know we already made the list but I just had to share the news on 6-26-10 the first run in the morning I made a pass and did a one tire fire burnout the full lenght of the track 1/8 mile, the time sucked 9.2 but I'd do that all day long if I could oh what fun.

That was done with a lot of wheel spin and some tire smoke.

Joe Hamby

Hi Bobw, most of us are under 2 sec. for the 60 ft. Roy Merritt says that he holds his foot up for a little ways and then steps on it. I usually com off the line at a little over 3000 rpm. The Tulsa track is usually prepped very good. In the low 12's with a four speed, everything happens real Quick for me. Just trying to keep the engine even during staging and watching the lights, it's a balance act. That's why I have a hand lever hooked to one emergency brake, for staging. because I have a foot brake. The controls are set up just like an old pickup. some of the cars are around 1.7 for the sixty. I think that my fastest is about 1.77 for the sixty. Coker tires seem to work really well for us.

348chevy
10-18-2010, 11:11 AM
I run it like I did with old 58 super stocker, come out at about 3000 and go down slow on the trottle. In 1958 and 1959 we had to run treaded tires that were the size that came on the car. No slicks or cheater slicks so you did your throttle work slow not jaming it to the floor or you would go up in smoke. We did'nt have 60 ft. clocks then but I'm sure that it was slow. Don Nickleson was real good at it, I only beat him once at Long Beach. The best 60 ft at Tulsa was the same as Joe's 1.77. I would love to race Todd's car again to see how we would do against each other. I used to know that if I was even wit any car coming out of the hole I could beat at the top end but Todd's new time of 117 mph is would negate that idea. :DRoy

The Waffle House Special, I saw it once at the Mokan Hamb drags, when I got there, I could smell his clutch from 70 feet away. It was a 302 GMC with two four barrel's. I did not see it run or ever hear what it turned. The last I heard of it was just a couple of weeks ago. It was for sale in one of the northern states. It was listed on this HA/GR site. It was built by GMC Bubba, In Indy. you might find him on the regular hamb board.
