I'm bagging the Bellflower Buick. Just waiting for the parts to get here. My question is this, should the exhaust run through the frame or under it like it is now. Right now I have 1" from the lowest part of the exhaust to the ground, yup, it's low. I need to get that stuff tucked up under further. Any advice?

Hey man..All I can do is tell you that I have a 63 LeSabre with bags..Its lays down on the frame,My exhaust is UNDER the frame, Of course the pipe is flat on the bottom, but without cuuting or nothing a passage thru the frame ,thats pretty much what your limited to.

It's almost impossible to slam a 58-64 GM car without dragging the exhaust at sometime. I take a piece of 1/8 x 1" band iron and weld it from the inlet pipe to the lower edge of the muffler on a 45 deg. angle. It acts like a skid to let the muffler ride over what ever it hits instead of hanging up and yanking the whole system off the car. Bullet shaped glass packs work well. There is no sharp edge to catch on the mahhole covers. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, lucky for me I only have straight pipes out to the bellflowers. No mufflers to hang on anything. Oh well, thaught I would ask anyway. Thanks guys. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Is it an X frame? The X frame Buicks had provisions to run the exhaust through the frame... That's how I'm doing it on the '57, nothing will be lower than the frame...
some demo-derby style zoomies would really personalize that car.
