2B do you know if there is racing with eliminations all three days or is it time trials for 2 days and eliminations for 1 day. To stay for 3 days is pretty exspensive. I went to Wentzville for 3 days and it was nothing but interclub racing and time trials for 2 days with 1 day of eliminations and real class racing. Roy

Roy, Don't know, just saw an ad for it in "Nitro Madness" Mag. I would try to find out Monday. That's the way it was at Cordova, Il. we would pull into staging following the Gassers & run. They created a flathead class for us, it didn't matter to us as we just wanted to get in as many runs as we could. If other hamb rails & SDRA rails showed up I would seriously think of making the trip.

Guys,
I think we'll have our car there and running. We swung the engine and tranny in last night and I'm working on it tomorrow.
Several months ago Todd Bridges (General Manager @ KCIR), the organizer for the Muscle Car drags (Schneider I think), and I had a meeting and they wanted the HA/GR cars there for the spring nostalgia drags. At the time Todd said he would provide free entry, reserved pits, etc for our cars.
I'll call him Monday and get all the info on how we would fit into their schedule. If anyone needs to get in touch with me 816-436-6108 evenings.

Contact John Troxel at 573-592-1991 for info...he is the promoter on the fall KCIR event....Muscle Car Reunion and Nostalgia Drags...mentioning to him that you saw it in Nitro Madness Magazine would be cool too!

Hiney said he is bringing the Hornet so I guess I'll come but I don't know if I can afford to stay overnight. I might come Sat. and Sun. I really would like some particulars about the event and if we are going to organize our own eliminations. I would prefer that just like in Tulsa.:)Roy

2B,
I talked to Todd Bridges at KCIR yesterday and he said we were welcome and ask that we limited it to 8 HA/GR cars. Entry fee will be free and will include driver and 1 crew member. I have to talk to the event organizer, Chris Schneider, and see how we will fit in the race schedule. I have a feeling we'll be used as fillers between rounds and be able to run all we want. Collectivly, we can decide how we want to run our own program. I'll call him this afternoon and post the info as soon as I hear something.

2B, Roy, Bob,
I talked to Chris Schneider a few minutes ago and he said we were welcome but wasn't sure just how many runs we would be able to make each day since it's such short notice about the HA/GR cars coming to KCIR.
He said he could guarantee we would be able to make at least 1 run every day. However, he said he thought we would be able to make 3-5 runs on Friday if we got there early in the morning, 2-3 runs on Saturday, but Sunday was tight and he could only guarantee the single run.
He also needs to have all our names, phone numbers, etc by next Tuesday and he would have more info on how the HA/GR cars would fit into his race program.
Please e-mail me if your coming for sure and I'll pass the info on to him and get the final scoop on when we get to run.

I made motel reservations yesterday and so I'll be there on the morning of the 3rd. I guess we can all meet together and decide what kind of eleminations we are going to run if the track will OK it. If they will only give us a set number of runs then I guess we can race each other and have fun with everyone declared a winner. I figured this would be the last race of the season so run up the credit card and pay it off over the winter.:D Roy

2B I'm staying at the Comfort Inn on Highway 50 in Lee's Summit. That is not to far from the track. The exact address is 607 SE Oldham Parkway PH. 816-524-8181. The motel number in the Comfort Inn directory is M0070. Hope all this helps. Use your AARP card and get a discount:D Roy

Guys,
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in KC. We finally got our car fired today and it moved under it's own power. We had all the normal fuel and water leaks one has on a virgin car, but all-in-all it's looking pretty good. We're going to take it to a big parking lot tomorrow, thrash it a few times, and hopefully find the rest of the problems. I think we're going to put a radiator on it before the race. The beast sure barks loudly.
I'll post the info about the race Tuesday after I talk to Chris Schneider.

Guys,
I talked to Chris Schneider today and he could only promise us 1 run each day. However, he would try to let us run more as the schedule allowed.
He will allow the car, driver and 1 additional person in free. He ask me to supply the car number, driver and the additional persons names so he can put us on the list at the entrance.
Send me the info ASAP and I'll email it to him.

Are you going to make it to KCIR this weekend? The weather should be perfect for racing.

No, not this time. Just spent my play money for another atv, replacing the stolen one in Tulsa. You guys show the track how much the crowd gets into these cars & I'm sure that next yr they will give us more than 1 run a day!!!

Sorry your not going to make it this weekend. We've been thrashing on our car until the wee hours of the morning for 3 weeks trying to get ready. It still has issues but we'll be there and get some shakedown runs.
I'm sure we'll get our butts handed to us on a platter but hopefully we can get some runs in and get rid of the new car problems before Mokan next weekend.
The weather will be perfect and it will be good seeing the other guys.

WOW...what a outstanding event so far and the place is PACKED. When we pulled in Friday morning the place was packed with the most beautiful nostalgia diggers, altereds, funny cars, etc. It was even better today. It was ever bit as good as the NHRA nostalgia event at Bowling Green, Kentucky. They came from all over the country. The weather is in the 70's and it has been non-stop racing from 10 in the morning till 10 at night.
I had the pleasure of racing with Roy and Pat Merritt, and Bob Hindman. They are without question some of the nicest people you will ever be around.
We made 3 runs Friday and 2 today. Actually we personally only ran once today cause we stripped the distributor gear at the end of the first run.
Roy ran an 11.788. That's his best ET to date. Bob had some electrical problems and had trouble starting the car. We got that fixed but his cars laying down on the top end so we're going to chase that problem tomorrow.
The track has super traction (it will pull your tennis shoes off when you walk on it) so we were having trouble launching in 2nd gear without bogging the engine. We were also granny shifting the tranny so we wouldn't destroy anything. We had a 12.89 ET yesterday and a 12.10 today. We did manage a 120.51 mph yesterday and a 120.41 today so all is not bad news. If we can figure out a good launch mode I think the car will run a pretty good number. I'm pretty happy after only 4 trips down the strip. More tuning and a better header should show some improvement.
For those of you close to Kansas City I'd recommend you put this event on your "have to do list".

Ron,
Sounds like you're runin' a manual trans. If so, you have the HA/GR ET and speed reecords. Was the 12.10 and 120 on the same run? I could be wrong, but I don't think any of the outlaws have run 120. Congrats.

Randy,
Thanks. Yes, the 12.10 @ 120.41 was on the same run yesterday. We also ran a 120.51 Friday.
Great racing this weekend.

We just got home and will add to what Ron said. The first run on Fri. was me and Dwight { Ron's partner} He did a 9.7 with 88.29 1/8th and no 1/4 et or speed. I did a 7.75 with a 95.38 mph 1/8 and 11.944 with 115.20. Bob was shooting ducks all the way through on his run. Second run against Bob 7.804 with 96.32 in 1/8th with 11.938 and 117.11 in 1/4 with Bob red lighting. About now I'm really beginning to feel sorry for Bob. Sat. Dwight and me again I had a 7.64 with 96 flat in 1/8 with a 11.788 at 116.86 Bob was still shooting ducks. Ron's car sheared the ditributor gear on that run. Bob finall figured his gas was bad and drained the tank put new gas in sounded much better. Since we were there for exibition only they called us up for a flaged run. Bob and I were the only ones left so we ran and Bob was out on me bad and I went by him at the 1/8 but they only ran 1/8th mile so I lost my first race. We got no times because they shut down the timers for the flagman. Today Bob fixed eggs and potatoes for breakfast and Garlits came over and had a plate full. The only run we got today was a flagged start so no times and Bob beat me to the 1/8th mile again with me whistling by but Bob is the king of the 1/8th mile Ron ran top time and I had low et. 2B wish you would have been there. WE had crowds of people around the cars, lots of picture taking and the only time in my life I've been asked for my autograph.:D Roy

Sounds like you guys had a great time, the future will really be good for these cars as the track promoters realize how popular they are!!! Roy, you & Ron are really going to be hard to beat, your rails are still not fully debugged I'm sure. congrads to both of you. Ron, your car has raised the bar as far as looks go also. You now have the et & speed record. I will want to make this show next yr. Hiney is still king of 1/8th, he is tough to beat!!!

2b,
Thanks for the compliment on how nice the car looks but I can't take credit for that. My partners; Kevin Brodrick, Tim McLaughlin, Dean Isackson and Dwight McGowan deserve all the credit for how nice the car looks. All of them have special talents and stepped up to the plate when something needed to be done.
Dwight did an excellent job of driving the car this weekend. He overcame the frustration of the car bogging off the line and having to look at the back of Bob and Roy's heads. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the car after only 1 weekend of racing. I'm very pleased to have raced with Bob, Roy, and Pat.
Bob, how much did you pay those kids to get them to ask for Bob's autograph? LOL. Pat won't be able to live with him now.
Ron
