I'm getting ready to dig into my engine. This is my first Y-block rebuild. According to the engine number, it's a 62-64 heavy-duty 292 truck engine with a steel crank. Who knows what's inside the engine now. It's in my 58 Fairlane. Currently running a 2bbl Carter on the stock intake. One thing I definately need to do is change the intake to a 4bbl. So I either need to find an old 4bbl intake, or get a new one. Other idea is to put a 2x2 on it.
I'm still in the parts planing stage, so any suggestions for suppliers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you want to run a stock 4BBL manifold, get the "B" manifold (last letter on the casting number). This takes the modern 4BBL like a Holley or Edelbrock

You can get some good deals on stuff on ebay. Just spent $3000 on rebuilding my y-block and bought a few parts off ebay. Timing assmebly by rollmaster was $85 shipped. $125 from mummert's site. If you are looking to add more performance, upgrading the heads is crucial. www.y-blocksforever.com (http://www.y-blocksforever.com) is another good site with message board. -The catholic

Thanks you all for the referrals. You think this could work on a street rod?? I could guarantee it'd be the only one around! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
