Will a coupe windshield frame fit a cabriolet?

How hard would it be to fit sedan fenders to a cabriolet?

Is the seat in a cabriolet the same as a coupe? How many years are the seats similar? '35-40?

Django, I have been looking for a cabriolet frame for my car,What I can tell you is the radius is completely different than a coupe or anyting else in 36.waht you want to look for: the cab has a screw in frame and isn"t as rounded at the top, also the cab has a wiper hole on the drivers side.I was looking in the speedway catolog and they have a frame unpainted pretty cheap if your car has a chop in it that would be the way to go. NICE CAR!

Figures. No chop currently. So does that mean the windshield doesn't crank out like the other models? Speedway has a frame that will fit it??

How about the seat?

The windshield does not open,It is fixed by using screws through the winshield post on the inside,in back of the windshield post covers. If you have a coupe type frame you will notice there are hinges at the top of the frame! No I don't know if the seat will fit in other type body styles, what one do you have the club cabriolet or the regular cab.You would know that by looking out at the deck between the trunk and the top if the gap is 2" from the trunk it is a club.I used a glide engineering seat in mine, and it fits good,if you call them they could probably tell you or you could get on thier web site, www.glideengineering.com (http://www.glideengineering.com) good luck,WHEELS1950

Not sure of the fenders but I can measure the seat.

Windsheild frames are a no go, we had a coupe one and it didn't fit.

Just from their appearance, I suspect that windshields are the same for the cabriolet, convertible sedan and woody. They are altogether different from all coupe and sedan windshields.

I don't know if the cab and coupe seats are the same, but I'd imagine that they are interchangeable. My coupe seat back swings up from the top; somehow I imagine that in a convertible it would be a split seat hinged at the bottom.

Good point on the seat not swinging up. If that's all I can find, though, then it will just have to swing up.

It's a standard cabrio with rumble.

Is it possible to use a '37 radiator or at least fairly easy to adapt?

Ok, I found '36 tanks that I can have put onto my '37 radiator.

Anyone else have any input on seats?

How much do tops typically cost? Functional, not carson.

I have not forgot, just been busy. I will get it today.

Tops are broken down into two sections. The irons, and the material cover.

I'm getting a plain black vinyl installed for $750, that also includes refubinshing the irons and adding a new back strip (where the top meets the body in the rear).

The wood; header and rear bow are avialable from a couple places. Prices are about $600 to $650 for both. There are also two wood side pieces you can get for about another $100.

I'm not sure what you have existing in regards to the top, hope this helps.

Feel free to pm me with any other questions or pictures you may need.

I know the front header is there but of pattern quality. They're oak right? Maybe I can make that one myself as I have lots of oak beams. $750 is better than I expected. It will probably have to stay topless for some time though. Back fenders are more important. I don't know if it has the back and side headers or not.

I will know better Oct 2. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know you can make a new front header, cause the one i took out of mine was ground out of a 4 by 4.

Yes it's oak.
Fenders are a bitch, might be better and cheaper with "cough"Glass ones"cough".

Nos fenders are out of this world price wise.
Ebay uaually has some floating around.

Another thing to consider is that if you find a decent fender but the bottom ends are shot you can buy those parts from EMS.

Chad....I have an original bench seat out of my '36 coupe. Almost perfect condition, almost new tan mohair fabric. The back flips up.
I was going to try to swap meet it or ebay but if you're interested.........

Hey Dooley, you're in Buffalo? That is where we are meeting to exchange my cash for this guy's cabrio. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Dad has one really bad coupe fender and 1 crumpled fender comes with the car. I just hope they are not the same side! Yeah, I bought those fender patches for my 5 window. I can't imagine paying for some NOS fenders. But then again, I never imagined I get a cabrio before I was 50.

You're right, I may end up with glass fenders though. I hope not. Can you still get up into the rumble on a glass fender? That scares me. I don't want to crack it after spending all that money on a new fender. Dad's 3 window has glass rear fenders and they look great. I should note though that he changed his from rumble to trunk.

36Couper, I may be interested in that seat. Depends on how much and what it will cost to get here. I'm thinking it would have to be recovered in vinyl.

It's in the far east side of NY. We have it set up for the weekend of Oct 1. I would think we would hit Buffalo sometime in the afternoon.

Hands off! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
