Hey guys, Norma's sister is stuck in New Orleans and CANNOT GET OUT. Everyone is evacuating for Ivan the Hurricane and ALL transportation is canceled.

Is anyone around there who can help me out??? Do you guys have any ideas. She is trying to hop a bus right now, but I don't know if that will pan out. If she can't find a ride out we'll have to leave tonite from Tulsa to get there before Ivan does. She lives in Ft. Smith, Ark, but our drive is going to be like 12-15 hours.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Reverend Jake

they're gonna be on the lighter side of the storm--just as well stay put--all roads north are at a stand still

The bus deal doesn't look good. She has to pay TEN BUCKS to go A MILE AND A HALF to wait in line to SEE IF SHE CAN get a ticket! Or pay the cabby $300 to drive her 80 miles north to Baton Rouge! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Hey Stu, Looks like we might get Ivans direct hit here in Ocean Springs, Hope it don't screw up Cruisin the Coast next month, Or my house for that matter!! This one has not made the turns east they keep saying so I'm a little nervous that it might go into Lousiana, meaning we'd get the surge instead of you guys!! Just heard theres a good chance of it getting stronger when it hits the shallow warmer waters too. not good for us.

I haven't heard anything yet, but I believe she jumped a cab to Baton Rouge. I should hear something this morning.

Hey Jake - i don't know if you can drive into New Orleans, I read that they are using both inbound and outbound lanes as outbound lanes http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

See "7 pm Thurs" on the map? That's me....they are predicting 50 - 70 mph sustained winds for hours...with gusts to 90...we have abandoned the borrowed mobile home we are staying in (it's a long story....) and are camped out in the shop...waiting for the power to go off. We've got the new house about halfway framed up...looks like it's about to get soaked...hope it holds up in the wind. Good luck to anyone else in the path of this...keep us in your prayers.

Yep....it's about 20 feet outside the office in the shop. Hope the shop holds up...it's supposed to be designed to withstand 115 mph winds, although I really don't want to find out!
