Do you guys have the bullshit government vehicle inspections where you live? Up here, no matter what year make or model, you need to have an inspection done on your vehicle for all the necessary safety crap on your vehicle. It really throws a wrench into fixing up and old car or truck while driving it at the same time. You can't get any kind of insurance until you have a passing grade on the inspection . Just wondering if you guys have to go thru the shit as we do to get an old rod on the road

This is done on a state-by-state basis. Most states require this, and some states even have different requirements based on different regions (metro or rural).

This is rarely a big deal, as on old cars, they are usually just looking for common-sense stuff on your car, like properly operating headlights/parklights/brakelights and brakes that will stop the car. I just got my 52's inspection renewed last week, and if a car wouldn't pass what few tests they did, it has no place being on the same street as my family. And I sure wouldn't want to drive it!

Tennessee rules... No Emissions at all, No inspections of any kind. I see fenderless, hoodless, no taillights, no windshields... The list of crazy stuff you see on the road here is endless. I love it, and the less government regulation on Hambers the better.

Oh , I totally agree with that. Testing for brakes, lights, seat belts etc... I am looking more towards body and frame wise. There are a ton of great craftspeople on this site that build their own frames and fabricate their own bodies and I would like to know what kind of inspection their work must go thru. If I took my 67 in for an inspection, I know it would fail. It is in perfect operating conditon and all the necessary safety features are operational, but because it has a couple small holes in the floor boards, they would fail it right there. It seems that from some show pics I have seen where you get the hardcore rat rodders cars, some of them are missing floor boards all together and run withy just rear brakes on the car. Do you guys agree with running a car like this?
