Finally brought her home.....

She's been under a tarp for the past 4 years at my folks place, I started the chop with dreams and a vision, then..poof no time, no money, going to school full time, working full time, got married, moved to a different city, started another project, moved further away...blah, blah, blah..finally gor a house with a garage, and here she is, my little piece of custom heaven..at least I’d like to think so. Got a lot of work ahead of me but at least I can actually work on it and not just daydream…….

Plans are turn it into a 2 door, hardtop it, and make it drag…….

thats wierd, it looks just like one I just looked at yesterday, a co-worker of mine has one in his backyard and wants to sell it. I'm gonna take a pic of it and post it in the HAMB classifieds.

Cool car! Nothing wrong with a 4 door. Like glassguy said, anything can be done w/metal. When I first saw his merc, it took a few minutes to realize it was originally a 4 door. (course I was drunk too http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Yeah Fatlucky, that's it, wow that was some time ago, I am surprised you remember, actually I hover mostly in North Austin, cause that’s where I live, near Dell, I should get out more!

Thanks DrJ for some reason I thought everyone would know it’s a 53 Olds.

The reason I want to turn it into a two door is because of the "How to build Custom Cars" book by Tex Smith, I remember picking that book up at the local library way back when…..and was amazed that anyone would be able to do something like that. I already have both doors from a convertible, a 40ish Ford rear glass surround and spare 4 doors for the moldings, and spare metal and curves etc.

Its going to be a fun project.
