Looking for a licence plate lamp like the one pictured below. Its a Hollywood piece. All of the new ones available today (that I have seen) just look cheesy to me. Anyone out there have any ideas (becides e-bay)?

I don't know your definition of cheesy, but Bob Drake sells a license mount and light that is similar. Haven't got my cacalog right here but as I remember they are resonable.

I remember seeing lots of plate lamps like these on fiberglass dune buggies. You might want to have a look at a VW mag and look at the ads.

The original ones came off bug-eye sprites. The reproductions come in 2 sizes and there's a very big variation in quality. Bob Drake usualy goes for the quality. That's why his prices are on the high side for most things.
P.S. Sorry I missed the party.

The ones available new from NAPA are pretty close to Hollywoods, even closer than Drake's. And the NAPA ones are only about $30. I think the main difference is the Hollywood has a hard rubber base and the new NAPAs are spongy. And they paint the slotted bracket instead of cad plate it.
