I need a shielded throttle cable for my 56 F-100. Where is the best place to find one? On the carb end, is a cup that snaps on to the carb. Any ideas? I think the pedal is from a Galaxy, but not sure.
Also, what is the best way to cut that stainless cable without it fraying?

I got a black one from Performance Auto Supply 214/324-0602 here in Mesquite (Dallas) a couple weeks ago. $20... it ain't as fancy as them Lokar deals, but works real good for 2/3 the price.

As for cutting the braided stainless, wrap a couple rounds of masking tape around the area to be cut then use a cutoff wheel (or a hacksaw if you don't have air tools.) This will eliminate 90% of the fraying.

You might try a Ford Pick Up restoration supplier - like Dennis Carpenter or Mac's for an original type cable.

To cut that stainless cable I use a good sharp pair of dykes and I wrap the cable where I am making the cut real tight with heavy masking tape. Like 5 or 6 wraps so its thick. Then snip it. If you can put all the shit on the cable first so you can leave the tape on and you won't fray it sliding stuff on to it. Then I think you can get little metal sleeves that crimp over the end.

A little bit of solder works best. Then the end will never fray.

Solder! This is true and the cut off wheel works better than good snips - good snips work better than shitty ones.
