G'day,
I'm a forty-something year old bloke from Canberra who is into customs, modified pre '85 cars, particularly rotary powered mazda's, and have a perhaps delusional intention of building a rotary rat rod. I've done a range of club motorsports like hillclimb racing, motorkhana's, track days at the local race-circuit and when we had a dragstrip I was a regular there too.

My interest in rods, customs, showcars and the rat-fink / lowbrow art reaches back to the far end of the seventies and lying on the loungeroom floor, pouring over my fathers Revell, Monogram and AMT model kit catalogues. The ratfink thing never left me...

I am known on most rotary and aussie car forums as 'buzz' but that nick was taken, so I used my car rego number instead.

So, hello to all.

Welcome Buzz. I trust you read the 'read this first' sticky on this page? A friendly word - this is not a rat rod site and the expression doesn't go down well, likewise neither do rotaries or vehicles newer than 65. The more you read on this site you'll understand where I'm coming from. It is a fantastic place for traditional rods and customs!

Yep, thanks for that. I'm not coming to try and annoy people or change anyones opinions, but rather wanted to soak up all the info and old world goodness that seems to have soaked in. Plus, I think I needed to be a member to access all the sections and the search function. Very handy that is!

But, forewarned is forearmed, so I'll be carefull where I tread and what I say.

I'll keep my secret dream of a rust & moss patina, rotary powered, 65 XP Falcon ute just that!

Welcome. There's nothing wrong with that other stuff you're into. It's just not what this site is about. Heaps of good info here though and I think your car interests are broad enough that you'll get a lot out of it.

Pete

Hi Striper - I am currently on the 2nd page of your build-up thread: looks good. Love the fabrication work - I thought the rear chassis kick up was neat but then I saw the tranny tunnel. Impressive.
