View Full Version : How quick are you gonna run at the HAMB Drags?

I expect to be in the low 13's. The car usually runs in the 12's, but I won't have as much gear as I have in the past.

I was hoping to find others that will be in that range. Seems like it'll be more fun with door to door racing all the way down the track. I know I'll get smoke on a few passes (gotta run D.W. at least once) and I'll probably be way ahead on a couple of others.

Who else is going to be close to that so I can look for some good matchups?

What are you gonna run? Let's use this thread to set up some good, close, races.

I'll be in this:

17's if I'm lucky. :D Running our little 63 Valiant with a Slant Six.

Me and Denise are having a showdown with the Valiant and Big Olds. I think I'll be within a second or two of her. :)

haha, now that sounds like a fair and evenly matched race! A 200 six Falcon vs a Slant Six Valiant! People will have enough time to go get a sandwich by the time we finish!:D

Heck yeah, come grab me and we'll line em up! Sounds like a blast.

11.05, no 10's yet. He's got a race bucket and harness for it as well. He'll pull the stock sofa out at the track and bolt in the race seat. That weight difference alone could be enough to do it. We'll see how the track is.

Uh........11.04:D
Like Buzzard said, I'm gonna remove the "couch" @ the track. I weighed it recently & it weighs 95 lbs! Thats a lot for a seat & considering that the car weighs 2705 w/ me & that seat in it, it's either remove the seat or cut down on beer drinking.
Really though. 2705lbs! What a heavy piece of shit for a Model A!!!
I've got the day off today so maybe I'll spend about half of it in the car practicing my shifting:D

Scrape and all,

If you don't want times announced or displayed on the score board, be sure to tell the staging lane guy.

He will send you on a single, and we will turn the boards off.

Putting the N/T on your window wont' hurt either.

later!

Gonna make it with the ol' roadster (ZOT) this year. The worn flathead ain't no power king, but the fun factor'll be up there. I'm guessin' somewhere 'round the 18's, ain't gonna wind it too hard. First time the ol' ride has been down the track since '71 or 2.
Can't wait.

Easy boy, that was a year and ten thousand performance mods ago .12.90's ,fact is my little Ford was nearly that fast at Temple last year with 3.55 gears to your 4.30's ,and i did it with plain street tires and 50 less cubes .Not to mention the fact that its a everyday driver that i drove 250 miles each way to the track in.With my 4.57 gears ,slicks and other mods now ,im gunna make you guys look even worse at the DOTD .That will teach to pick on a litttle 302 with a 350...

I always get a kick out of reading your posts and trying to guess which excuses you're going to use.

By the DOTD, the bugs will be worked out of our car. Keep in mind, our junky old 4 door had never even been DRIVEN, much less taken down a track. You had all the time in the world to get used to your car, learn it's quirks, etc. We rolled ours off the trailer, made a pass, adjusted from there, and STILL went OVER a 1/2 second faster than your fastest time at the DOTD. Not to mention, my very first pass to ever drive the car was only 2 tenths slower than your fastest pass at MoKan last year ! LMAO !

Pretty dang good, especially for the first time out.

Not only the first time out, but the first time the car has EVER been driven except for a couple blocks down the road and back. I had never even driven a car with a 4 speed before--just late model, internal rail shifted trannys. We just had too many problems with the carb. It had a stumble about 3000-3500, and then it was just falling off at 6000 like it was running out of fuel. The last pass was a 12.95@103. The 60ft was 1.75 on that last pass. Not bad with that stumble.

Well all I can say is 55 CHEVY RULE! You can ask Dennis (senior fried). I was a cook and a spectator and drove around in a golf cart. What a gold chainer, but had a blast. Shocker I can tell you Aaron would have left you eating dust all the way down the track. That dirt clod as Buzzard put it became a Tri 5 King that day! In the 12's with a more door just to dam cool.

Yeah but cheating never felt so GOOD, and running in the 12's in a 3000 lbs car with 2mi. on it speaks volumes. We are all here to have FUN and go as fast as we can, just remember that. All my cars have been build by other people that know more than I. But they are still my cars and I am having a blast and that is what it is all about! When this race between yall is done you both will have closure. Until the next race.

Your right Dennis ,i agree .I will just have to do my best and see what happens ,anythings possible i suppose .Nostalgia drag racing is all for fun anyway and i realised that finally ,as i hope they do.Aaron and Troy are both friends and if they feel they need help dialing it in ,more power to them ...
