View Full Version : Dat Dirty Rat's 'NEW" ride! Dat Dirty '54--- PICS
He's come back to his roots!
My '53 was his old car..and i think there was something missing since he sold it a few years back..
Well, after a few cars coming and going, he finally hit the JACKPOT with this kickass, simple ride.
I rolled in it with him last night, and gotta say it's *tight*.
Inline runnin' Fentons, twice pipes that buzzzz like a sworm of hornets..and lowered all 'round.
Wayyy cool!
Congrats man, i can't wait to roll with you in your old '53! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Unkl,

It's a perfect canvas..satin white with not a mark on it..
Then again, it looks really good that way too..

It's not the 'required' flat black with red rims! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Pakrat...you know its on now!!
Although i never purchased somebody elses completed project (since he just finished painting it 2 days before i got it) this car is something different & personal..It belonged to the drummer of one of my favorite local rockabilly groups and its his 1st attempt at a mild kustom..so my plans for it are just to maintain it and do some lil things here/there..
Unk- I thought about it,,but i'm dropping it off at Brians Tuesday for the treatment..I never had a car that was worthy of his work so now that i have the chance...
I'm doing it...I cant wait!!

Looks great but plain...I was given a '57 chevy 235 engine/powerglide tranny last Saturday nite.I got to hear it run... It's still in the 57 but the guy's gonna street-rod the car with a 350 this winter. I'd like to find a cherry little 49-54 chevy 2 door or coupe or hardtop to plop this motor into. That 54 would be a good choice.

Tom, congrats on your new ride. I didn't even know Jennifer and her husband had it for sale! Man, what memories-my old man had a '54 tudor (way back in the early '60's) that I used to cruise in from time to time. And, it was all fun. Can't wait to see what the striping God of the East can do to make the Chev "your" car!

Spike?? The name sounds familiar,,but cant place you...SORRY,,i tend to 'forget' things from time to time..Like everyone! The maroon 53 is still local..I sold it to another friend who has more time for it..He has has the car looking good...Its kinda of kool to think that most of the 53-54's around here i had my fingers in at some point along the line before they became sooo famous...
Moondisc- We plan on being there...I looking forward to seeing you again...Better keep an eye on your taillights,,,cough,,cough!
Norton- Jason didnt plan on selling the car nor did i realy plan on buying it..It just sort of happend,,i guess i was meant to have it...You know how those things work sometimes.
Didn't i pass you on Mt Read yesterday??
Tag- I have to work tonight and when i get out 1st thing the car is going to Brian's,,,However, i will stop by your house later in the day with it so you can be the 1st to witness the madness...
Whats up w/the Merc??
Rat- I smell...... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tom, I do believe that some things are just meant to be and so it is with you and your new ride. Yep, that was me coming back from Home Depot. I didn't even know it was you until it was to late to honk and give you the high five. Trying to buy a standby generator for our humble abode so I won't have to worry about power outages when we head south in a couple months.

Dang, Tom it's not that I don't trust you and the rest of the gang to keep an eye on the house, the backup generator is only a precaution in case the "big one" hits. You know, the mother of all blzzards. If it hits, I don't anybody worrying about having to check Norton's house.
But, there is the other side of things. You know my cars all to well and how they will let anyone have their way with them! Real sleazy hunks of steel.
And, of course, you are welcome to eyeball my '40 anytime you would care to. Although, I don't know why-it hasn't moved one iota in nearly 30 years. It sits forlornly in the corner of the garage waiting for me to pay just the wee bit of attention to it. Outside of having Oz and Steve Panarides (sp?) build the torsion bar front end for it and collecting engines and trannies, I have done stones, NADA to the poor thing. I'm a bad parent. But, I still love my '40.
Yo Dirty,
Sweet new ride man! Wanna trade for a 58 Chebby? Hope to see it in person sometime soon!

Joe- How have you been brother?? I havent decided what i'm going to do with it yet,,except drive it. But sooner or later it will get a 'facelift'..I have to get up to see you guys..
Shiny- the mill is pretty stock right now except for the Fenton headers..I have the pieces to 'hop-it-up' and i'm shooting to have all the machining work done over the winter but we'll see how the $$ is then..
Duck- How have you been? The 58 is looking good holmes..I cant wait to see it again..I hope your safe and things are going good for you in Florida..we miss ya holmes!
I'll post pics of the pinstriping later in the week when i'm able to get some pics...
Thanks to everyone on there responses!

Tom, You caught me off guard with your phone call, wish we could have talked longer. After yer call I did a search for your new ride. I remember seeing it when it was first posted but thought it was worth a second look. That car has so many possiblities. Done any mods on it or just havin' fun drivin' it? Snap a pic of it with the Impala wheel when you get a chance.
I'm heading to Indiana tomarrow morning in the Fleetline for the James Dean/Ducktail. I'm really diggin' my new ride and been driving it every chance I get.
Give me a call anytime.
