My name is Mark, I am from Austin Texas, but am currently in Rapid City South Dakota attending the Hot Rod Institute. I found the school amidst my red-tape period of transitioning out of the Army in March of this year after 10 years in the service. I had decided many years ago that bikes and hot rods were where my passions lay, and decided that I need to at least try to make a go at making a living from building them, in the pursuit of that happiness thing......

Last year while I was in Iraq, I spent a great deal of my free time researching schools to attend upon my transitioning out of the military. I could not find any that seemed worth-while. Most everything I found consisted of automotive technician programs with 2-3 "hot rod" elective classes. I found the school online in March, did my research and a lot of talking with the owner, and showed up bright eyed and bushy tailed for my first day of class April 1st. Coming along with me on the 20 hour trip was myself in my late model dodge, my Yamaha Vstar (customized by myself) and HardKnock minibobber (pitbike) in the bed, and a UHAUL car hauler with a 1933 Chevy I had found on Ebay and bought 2 weeks after I returned home from my tour in December. The Chevy seemed like an awesome deal, as it was a running driving truck.

Here is a link to the dismantling. It is a powerpoint.

I am starting a new thread with everything that I have up to this point in the main forum. It will include

1) Background & Build Plan
2) Dismantling
3) Complete Frame build (over 2 month period - not bad for a couple of guys that are just learning)
4) Some pictures from Body class to include the Channel, floor frameout and tunnel fabrication, and panel restoration. (we will be starting the chop this coming week)

Check up and let me know what you think.
