I was thinking about doing something like this to my steering wheel. Does it cause any problems when driving? Also what type of epoxy did anyone use to fill cracks. I was hoping just to go to the hardware store to get it. Thanks, Mike.

JB Weld or Devcon.

The steering wheel restoration crowd use PC-7 supposedly available at places like Home Depot or Lowes. When I "restored" my steering wheel, I couldn't find any, but I found some good two-part putty-type epoxy that seems to have worked fairly well. I would think JB Weld might get too hard...

The ones with just a chunk missing look a bit scarey to me. Looks like something to get impaled on or have catch in a sleeve midway through a turn causing a wreck. I like the one with the inverted sections, but would make it symetrical if I did it.
BTW did you guys get you cars home ok after the wreck?

I would always think what would happen in a wreck. even minor fender benders sometimes put you into the wheel.
