View Full Version : My striping brush?

Although I have a ton of questions I'll keep this quick and concise. I just bought a Mack000 and have used it twice. I am having trouble starting lines due to some hairs that are longer than the rest of the brush. The hairs protrude past the farthest point on the brush and whenever I put the brush down there is a small mark left at the begiining of the stripe. Can I simply nip off the very end of the brush so I get smooth beginning to my lines or am I missing something.
Thanks Chris

Cut them off.
But cut no more than necessary.

I find that one hair is easy to just pul out, often it actualy comes out of its own accord, so i figure it won't be missed.
My biggest problem when starting a line was having too much paint near the pointy end of the brush, so I squese that out between my fingers, since I still don't seem to have developed a knck for getting rid of it on the pallette.

After you have paletted your brush to the correct consistancy,
you can scrape off the excess on the edge of the paint cup.
Not nearly as messy as running through your fingers.

do you load the brush by dipping it in the can? for me, its easier to load it when i have a little bit on a phone book then then palette into the paint.

Personally,I usee 2 plastic medicine cups,with a pallet.
One for paint, the other for reducer.
Glossy magazines don't soak up the reducer as fast as the old school phone books.

I ummm 'aquired' some neat kitchen utensils for paint and reducer as well as the neat little spoons I use for moving paint from caan to pallette.
I've tried a few different technique, but the finger thing seems to deliver the best result for me. I do have some pretty neat looking multi coloured rags as a result. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
