I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan to put a coat of base on before you clear it.

Y?
How bad did ya fuck up?
If your base is nice and uniform with no living things trapped in it.....I usually tack 'er down, and start laying it on.

I'm no "paint god" but there is a time limit usually between base and clear. follow the instructions. No sanding, and the clear has to follow pretty soon after the base goes on.

I remember you asking about HOK stuff recently. If its HOK that you are using they have a tech booklet that they'll sell you for a few bucks that spells everything out.

NO.

but know this: base coats should applied thinly and cleared over promptly, not a week later, for the best adhesion results.

Most base coat has a window that you have to hit, if you miss it then wet sand.
IE blow your base on this month and then clear next month wet sand first. Then tac coat and clear coat.
We're talkin' wet sand with something finer than 600 grit here.

do not sand before clearing............ if you leave it for more than 24hrs without clearing you will need to sand and (w/600 wet) reaply a coat of base before you clear
