Can you put hairpin radius rods on the front end without much modifications? Also does anyone have or make motorcycle front wheels that bolt on old Ford front spindels?:confused:Roy

depending on what front axle you're using, there are hairpins/batwings out there that will bolt to the axle without modification.

There aren't any motorcyle wheels that bolt on. Motorcycles use the same size bearing on both sides of the hub, where a car uses a larger inner bearing and smaller outer. Check the main board for Kerry's solution on his FED project.

348.. Yes there are hairpins out there that fit.. I made my own. Very easy.. As far as motorcycle wheels that fit early Ford spindles, They use to be quite common..I got a set way back when. Had them on my Fiat Topo. A company called Hayden makes them now, But hold on to your wallet when you ask the price.. Check your local auto swap meets. I bought a set of original American mags for early spindles for $500.00 there. So just look around..

Can anyone help me find a picture of a car I own that is posted on the 1959 to 1966 SS and FX forum, it's a picture of my car racing another white 1963 Z 11 Chevy. It's a picture I don't have but I would love to get a copy of it. Hank - Impala63Z11@aol.com

Perhaps you could PM the person that posted the picture in that thread???

Doubt that any of us here in the HA/GR board would know.

I have a set of hairpins/I beam axle brackets (bought new from Speedway Motors). I'll part with them.

I got my bat wings for my Model A axle from Speedway and made my own...very long hair pins. I just cut the spring mount off the top of the original bolt that goes down thru the batwing so the spring could be mounted lower (like on the bat wing).

You may find that the outter diameter of the Ford spindle is the right diameter to fit thru the bearing on most motorcycle wheels. You have to have the rest of the spindle turned down to that diameter...the wheel will just slip on then and can be secured with a nut and pin.

I have found that you need to run stainless steel spokes instead of the aluminum ones...prone to breaking. I think I paid 85 to get both spindles turned down the last time I used this deal (on a T bucket with a BBC in it). Good luck, Zilla
