You guys never cease to amaze me at all the creative ideas on here.

I have 2 store front windows I am going to have Barnett letter for me in the immediate future.
The widows are horizontally mounted and measure 6'x3'.
I want a 20's-40's feel, so have at it.
I have faith in ya.

Go to the librar or on the web and look at the depression era photographs of Walker Evans--lots of small-town storefronts and lots of neat old cars in his work.

I remember as a kid driving across the desert more than once and seeing an old gas station/cafe that had this painted in HUGE letters on the side "EAT MEXICAN FOOD, GET GAS!" Check for WPA photos on the web, as stated before folks like Walker Evans, Dorothea Lang, ect.. shot tons of folks doing everyday things so there are lots of shots of storefronts etc. What about looking in some of the HotRod history books and doing an early Bell Auto parts or Moon type speed shop thing? Oh yeah and I forgot an old burger joint we used to eat at called Fat Jacks, they had a big ol sign on top that said "Best meat in town, if you can't eat it, beat it!"

Somewhere on your store front you need to have "Ladies Invited"! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
There's an old bar and grill across from the Kaiser Aluminum plant that we go to from work sometimes called "Rocky and Carlos'". On the lower part of one of the front windows, in turquoise and white, is "Ladies Invited". A comforting thought given the establishment's history and location. It's been around forever and is run by some old and very colorful Italian family. Rocky was supposedly bumped off by the Mafia! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm not sure if there's any truth to that, but the place does have the feel of a mafia type hangout. There's no such thing as a "non smoking section"! One thing is for sure, the food is excellent and the portions are big enough to choke a horse. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I wish I could find an old barber pole....what was the name of the guys barbershop in Mayberry?

[/ QUOTE ] Take an old round white wood support column for the front porch, cut to length, add diagonal red stripe. Attach to wall. Leave the old peeling white and just add red--It will look genuine and old and weathered. Use another piece of barn wood for the sign, add carnival type letters to spell BARBER.

I remember driving across parts of New Mexico and some God forsaken parts of Utah when I was a kid, seeing signs on gas stations that read "Last Gas and water for 100 miles". Gotta work that in somehow.

I hate to let this one out, because I would like to use it someday, BUT I would love to see this used on YOUR storefront window: The DeSoto Grille. Write it in Desoto font and possibly put a Desoto grille near the logo (if you can find one). Some company I saw is reproducing similar ones now for kustom applications.

There, the kat's outta the bag!

A friend of mine bought a vintage neon clock years ago that had a broken glass face. He wanted some ideas on what to put on it.

I came up with, AAA Accurate Dentist, While-U-Wait service,

I'm thinking Milk "N' MUfflers or maybe Burly Man Day Care Center. How about Bubba's House of Snakes?
