Was driving my 53 Chevy to Gasoline(El Segundo) last Saturday night and about two blocks from my place the motor fizzled out and died on me at the stop light much like it had run outta gas. I got her started long enough to clear the intersection and place me in a parking lot. I tried starting her a few more times and she acted like she wanted to go but never did.

After getting her towed to the house, I checked the carb to make sure gas wasn't the issue, and sure enough it wasn't. Checked to see if she had spark and she did, but it was a very faint spark. Thought the coil might be the issue but after replacing it I still couldn't get her started... so here I am with a new coil and she still won't start.

Motor is a 235 out of a 55 chevy converted to a 12V system... still running on points and condenser... any suggestions??

I'd appreciate it... Ian

Valve adjustment won't cause the weak spark that you have. Like the others have said check your ignition sysytem. Sounds like you could have no point gap. HTH
