"Sam Wheeler had to abort the run before the measured mile due to gusts of wind and an noise that he never had heard before. If he can hear it in the cockpit of the vehicle it must be a very loud noise to hear it over the engine and vehicle. He described the noise like a bearing noise. As Dave Campos watched the return, he said he fuel like a nuce tied around his neck standing on a block of ice. As Dave said unofficially Sam holds the record from Speedweek and officially he still has it.
