Got it running thanks to Joe. A few problems... it idles no lower then like 800-900 and when you put it in gear it about kills it (and sometimes does). Idle I'm not sure... the dieing when put in gear, would that be because of using a "new" tranny? Any thought and ideas would be great. I'll post some pics this weekend.
Oh also, can't get the kickdown to work....how far does it have to pull that cable? It doesn't pull it to the end (roughly 1/4-1/2" left. It's set at the tightest setting using a stock type cable.
Here is the rundown...
265 powerpak
offy intake
Edelbrock 500cfm carb
TH350
It sounds like a different beast... really healthy

Just a shot in the dark. You didn't mention what type of dizzy you have but with a dual point mallory I had once, I had the same symptoms. Drove us nuts. The engine also detonated upon high acceleration. Found a loose positive battery cable, tightened it and it turned into a monster. All we could guess was the cable was causing some kind of interference noise which was effecting the amperage to the coil. You may have to jury rig your kickdown tighter to get it to work. Definiteley not a solution but something to look at.

Kickdown needs to pull all the way out at WOT. As far as it stalling when it goes into gear I would say possibly not the right stall converter. What is the stall speed?

I thought it was alive.... waterpump is shot... I think anyway. I thought my guage was messed up, but no, it wasn't.. luckily so far that I know of.. it didn't hurt anything on the 45 min drive this morning, it was pegging the needle... and I also noticed my radiator cap was shot too. Boy is this car being a pain in the rear. I'm well over $1000 now.. my estimate was $600, so yes the wife is unhappy with me.

If you are running a cam with a lot of duration you will need to go to a higher stall speed converter. I was running a gm 10 inch converter with my 327 with a cam around 285 duration. It would stall out too until I switched to at 2300-2500 stall converter. It still wants to pull through the brakes, but at least it stays running. If you are running a stock ( which I think is an 11 inch) GM converter it sounds like you need something with a higher stall speed to me. Just my .02

From what I understand the cam is stock 265PP/3spdOD. The convertor is stock.
I'm heading out to get the water pump swaped out.

check for air leaks. Might be the idle problem. I know there's a safer way of doing it, but I used starter fluid and sprayed around the carb base and intake flange and it found an almost impossible to see air leak on my truck, and that was the main problem.

It's not running hot... my guage isn't working... I'll check the wires tomarrow. The idle is some bracketry that's not closing the secondaries.. easy fix too http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif what a relief. I also go the kickdown to work http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
