Hey everybody...thought I would do an update on the poor, old Tbird...if anybody cares! haha My 430 wound up being 511ci & we found a 430 Super Marauder Tri-Power, Intake & Carbs. It runs strong...still need to work a few bugs out. Definitely no slouch in the torque area. I'm anticipating about 5 MPG...HAHAHA It's got some cajones for sure. Time to move on to the interior...working on a top secret dash right now. Well...I guess that's it, I hope my pix work!

Used a 462 block, then offset ground the crank for extra stroke (these motors have HUGE rod ends), used a BBC rod 6.800 length, had to buy a custom set of pistons (ouch), we actually used a 409 piston blank, the stock 430 cylinder heads, got bigger valves, a little bowl work & they actually flowed surprisingly well.
Using the 462 block allowed us to use the C6 instead of the Cruise-O-Matic, found the tri-power (can't believe we actually found that thing, as they only made it one year). When my carb guy redid the carbs, he did it all nice with the steel braided line and AN fittings....errr...I told him that wasn't quite the look I was going for....he didn't seem too happy! He said...oh you want something greasy lookin' huh? haha So he did the crimped rubber line and brass fittings. Had Isky regrind the camshaft as big as they could. And that's the scoop!
VERY cool Sam! Can you PM me the name of your carb guy? I would love a set of fuel lines like that for my 348 Tripower!

My carb guy is kind of a CRAB...he was bitchin' the whole time. It's actually pretty simple...you get a banjo fitting & it's basically crimped ends on rubber fuel line instead of hose clamps. If I actually sent someone to him to get that kind of line done, he would probably hit me over the head with a Dominator. He was rolling his eyes the whole time he was doing it...unless you enjoy ABUSE... it's C & J Engineering in Whittier, CA., his name is John (562) 946-1388. Good luck brother!

Samantha, Now that's a proper motor for a T-bird. I'm a died in the wool Chevy man but AI've always had a "thing" for FE performance motors and the tri-power equiped ones are at the top of the heap. Way to go!!!!

That's pretty killer.
What kind of hp / torque are you expecting it to make?

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It's actually not an FE, but a MEL motor 430/462. As far as HP...didn't dyno it...but approx. 475...and probably over 500 torque. See y'all on the road (hopefully) soon.
