i bought a set of skirts for my '51 chevy off e-gay and they both appear to be driver's side. my question is are the 'latch' mechanisms on the back supposed to be facing toward the front (or rear) of the car as a pair, or does one side face the front and one side face the rear? to compound my confusion, my '51 has apparently had body work done to the driver's side rear wheel well, and the opening is not even close to the shape of the skirt...

Hey man I just got a set for my 52 Coupe off the "gay" too. They are both identical, in other words either skirt should fit either side of the car. On one side the loop/latch thingy is facing the front, on the other side it will be facing the rear. My car has also had a small amount of body work done and the skirt does not quite fit perfect on that side. Make sure the rubber seal around the edge of the skirt is installed over its lip properly all the way around or it will drive you nuts trying to get the skirt to fit! I actually think the cars look a lot better with out the skirts but I just had to have em!

I think you might have gotten 49-50 chevy skirts instead of 51-52 ,if you can post a pic I can tell you for sure.

51 52 are the year that is ignorant. One skirt fits both sides. 49-50 have round hook bars and a slight dip/divot at the front bottom. 51-52 front and back edges are staite with round hook bars, 53-54 are straie at the front and back with rectangular hook bar.
