Hello everyone! My husband has been posting here since we got our 49 Ford, which I absolutely love! Especially the paintjob on it. = ) http://www.ruttencutter.com/49ford/way_home_first_show/way_home_first_show-Images/2.jpg He actually got me really interested in painting and pinstriping and has been asking a lot of questions for me. Someone suggested that I sign up, so here I am. = ) I'm new to the whole messageboard thing and not really sure what else to say though. Anyway, Bugman was nice enough to let us visit last night and I got to paint an old hood that my husband got for me. It was a lot of fun and ended up a really cool metalic purple color. I think I need some more practice though because the part that I did ended up looking like a purple zebra. = ) I was also wondering if there were any other girls on the board, ,and what kinds of things you do.
Well, I think that's it. If there's anything else you want to know, just ask!
Thanks!

Welcome Lizz! Awesome to have another artisitic hot rod enthusiast type chick on the board. Hope to see your work in the Friday Gallery some time.
I'm another of the 'girls' on the board. Safely and happily married. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm still on the search for the car I want. I'm not in a big hurry since I'm helping my husband rebuild his car (not one to mention on this board, so I won't). I've been working with metal for a couple years... casting, sculpture, blacksmithing, metalshaping, etc. I'm also interested in pinstriping, so your husband's post in your interest came at just the right time.
Again, welcome!!!

Well, I was going to say everything that Scott just said, however I couldn't figure out hos to make a reply. It seems that somehow I had to log back in. Go figure. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Anyway, he posted some more pictures of our car. I haven't done any pinstriping yet, just painting. The hood ended up turning out pretty good, but only because Bugman put the last coat on it for me to fix my zebra stripes. = ) I'll get better with more practice though, I'm sure. Anyway, I still need to get together a shopping list before I can get started pinstriping. Maybe we'll go tonight. We'll see. Any ideas of where to get all the materials needed to get started?

Welcome to the HAMB. I look forward to seeing your work as you progress! I'd love to paint and stripe, but paint is not my friend. I can't even use nailpolish!
Yeah to what CherryBlossom said. I am dissapointed in the last girl who signed on. As a newbie myself I was quite embarrased for her. IMO, don't even bother opening up posts by her.
Glad you signed on! Any pics of the hood you just tackled? =)

No pictures of it yet. I can figure out how to take the picture, and even get it onto my computer, but not sure if I could figure out how to get it on here. Maybe I'll e-mail it to my husband and if he gets really bored at work this afternoon (and feeling extra nice) he'll put one up for me. It's nothing spectacular, but I do really like the color. = )

If you can get a pic onto a computer it's easy to get them posted. Sign up for a free account at www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) they make it easy! They list the "code" you need under each pic. the one you want to insert is the one between and .

Thanks. I think his photography is pretty amazing as well. = ) Most of the quilts on there he and I worked on together...him doing most of the work. I'm not sure if the website says it or not, but a lot of them are hand dyed too. We have gotten more into it since college though and since we haven't really had anywhere to hand dye the fabric, we have been making them out of old denim. I have also started scrapbooking as well. Now I'm going to take on painting and pinstriping. Think I have enough hobbies yet? = ) Thanks for sharing some of your other interestes as well!

I envy you your abilty to use any liquid color! BE careful with scrapbooking, it will snowball quickly!(Ask Mac..he wants to know why I need more scrapbook supplies and cars/parts.) I have begun scrapbooking car shows now, and plan on doing an album for all the pictures of the panel buildup. I agree...you need more hobbies. I can get you started on on making flower hairclips and amassing veicles and car parts (for just in case, or just becuase it was cool.)

I might know the scrapbook store you're talking about. Is it called Madtown Scrappers? That one is on the east side. I think there might be one on the west side too but I'm not sure. I went into the Madtown Scrappers one though and they have just about EVERYTHING. When I say just about, it's because I couldn't find very much car stuff. We were looking for either old cars, or race cars and didn't have much luck with either. If you know of anywhere online to get car stuff for scrapbooking, let me know.
Also, someone posted something about how I needed to get striping soon. I am planning on it! Like I said earlier, I need to make a shopping list. If anyone has any suggestions on supplies to buy to start out, or where to buy them, please let me know! I have plenty ideas of what to paint on, just not what to paint with.
Thanks

Hellllloooooo Lizz!
I'm one of the other exceptionally cool hot rod gals on here! (LOL!) I'm also married and mom to a 7-year-old.
I do a little pinstriping too although I'll admit that I've been neglecting it for my other artwork which is my primary source of car parts money! I sometimes scrapbook also, but since my hobbies are WAAAY out of control and my car is in need of some work at the moment, all that stuff is on hold until Faye (my car) is rolling down the road again.
In any event, welcome to the HAMB. People here are very helpful and this is a great little community. There are some super-smart do it yourself girls on here that aren't afraid to pick up a wrench and jump in, so you should feel right at home.

I don't think thats the store Im talking about...
There isnt ALOT of car stuff out there...there is some. I think HotRodLadyCrusr and I have pretty much everything ever made scrapbookwise that is car related....Theres a few lines of stickers....and about 10 different papers that have flames or old car/trucks on them. There's some racing stuff out there too...just keep looking. Ebay tends to actually have some stuff too - I've bought 50s themed papers off of there....
I can always pick up stuff at my store ( i can send you pics of what it looks like first), you can pay me for it, and I'll mail it to you. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, we pretty much just sprayed over what was there. It was my first time ever painting with air tools. I've only even ever spray painted once in my life. My husband and I tried to sand down the big cracks and you can tell exactly where we sanded too. That is mostly because we didn't have any primer. Since we weren't too worried about the finished product and just wanted to get a feel for the paint gun we didn't worry about it too much. It's just a practice hood and I'm sure either we or I will paint it a number of more times. Thanks for the encouragement! I think I'll wait a while till I try the metal flake and candy paints though. = ) I had a hard enough time getting the lacquer on evenly. It looks good in the picture because Bugman did the last coat for me so I would have something even to practice striping on once I get my materials. I had a whole lot of fun doing it though and plan on practicing some more really soon!

Good one Rob.
When I squeeze my hog up into my butt cavity and I'm wearing my wife's "Rebel" bikini I can pass for a girl, a pretty good looking girl too.
Sometimes I even pretend that I have a clitoris by gluing a tiny bit of a Swizzle stick onto my pubis.
I'm a 32DD, so the tits part is well taken care of.
I like being a girl, even if it's only for 3 minutes a day at the bus station.
