This site is for Chevelle restorers only.
Did they make a Chevy worth restoring?

Hey ywr 333,
Saw your post on the Ramchargers engine stamp.
First, forget what that idiot Brand says, There is no problem with the R word.
The history of the stamping is:
The Ramchargers originated as a racing club of factory engineers. They obtained sponsorship from their employer Chrysler. They raced until 1967.
The name Ramchargers was trademarked (you can verify it with the US patent office).
When Chrysler started to pull out of racing the Ramchargers team members took the trademark name and used it at a group of speed shops in the Detroit area.
Those speed shops also had a machining division. When they did a race set up on a motor they would stamp the boss pad with the name ramchargers.
You probably have one of those engines.
The Ramchargers speed shops closed in 2004. The buyer did not purchase the name and trademark.
Since I was the owner of the only known surviving and documented Ramchargers race car, they approached me about buying the trademark name.
When I sold the car, I retained the trademark rights.
I have struck a deal with Mattel to reproduce the Challenger funny car, and had a couple of guys get a license to create a tribute car.
I have a standing offer to let others use the name, if they can certify the authenticity of the car. If they can't they can use it, but must display it as a tribute car, and not as authentic.
To that end, I am currently working on a 64 Dodge Hemi car that will be displayed as a tribute car to the first 426 Hemi car that ever drag raced.
Some of the writers on this website are pretty brutal with their comments, but generally the stuff you see here is pretty accurate and upbeat.
I try not to let the idiots get to me, but the fact is.
........they do.
Good luck with your project.

I hope I would not be one of those idiots for posting on the ramchargers thread. I am glad you have given blessing for the name to be used on REAL ramchargers cars, indeed a great tribute to a group of Detroit heros.
I wish we could have came to terms when I owned that car.
Good luck to your quest,if I could ever be of service, let me know.
I'll never forget the announcer at D.Dway screeming 'here comes the ramchargers......" over the PA....damn,Im gettin old John
