I'd always assumed that an F1 was a 47-52 ford pu and an F100 was the 53-55 model? Which steering box do I have? I'd also assumed it was the earlier variety until I did some poking around in the yard and realized the sector shaft should be smaller in diameter and the pitman arm held on with a large nut as opposed to a nut and bolt through the pitman arm like the box I have. Thanks

I agree that you have a F-100 box. The 53-56 has the pitman arm like you have with a pinch bolt and ball and socket end. A 57-60 box has the same pinch bolt and a pitman arm with a tapered hole for a standard tie rod end to fit into. The box itself is the same, just a different pitman arm. There may be a slight difference in the mounting flange as well, but that is still the same shape.
