Trent,

"Classic Plating" in Billings, has crappy finishing, runs up extra charges, doesn't stand by there warranty and has horrible customer service.... This comes from no less than a dozen veteran rodders here in Billings. Everyone I know here in town sends there work to someplace in Colorado.

In Moorhead theres a chrome shop called "Chrome IT". Nice guys, I had a job shadow with them last year. My dad brought some parts in and got an excellent quote, and they said it would be 30 days till they are done. Well, its been over 3 months and we still havent gotten anything. From the examples of what theyve done on display it looks good, but if you are in a hurry its not the right choice. I hate to say anything bad about them because they are good people, but whenever my dad or I call we get the standard "Well start on it in a week" or "Well be done in a week" well, they havent yet and weve been told that many many times. My dad brought in a few more pieces about a month ago (for a car that he isnt in a hurry on) and their prices have gone up quite a bit, but still a little cheaper than if you went to the house of silver or the chrome pit or that other good plater up in canada. They (Moorhead) also have a new electrostatic spray transfer chroming system that they can plate plastic and the like. Their business has really taken off and I think they have moved like 3 times (or so I heard) in the last year or 2 to bigger shops. I was in there 2 weeks ago and there was alotta construction going on and they were putting up a wall I think. It should go well for them once they settle down and get a little more organized and I wish them luck since having a chrome shop nearby is handy.

If you want the number I can try to find it.

Trent, the chrome shop I used is a friend of mine but he is a commercial plating shop and does not do hot rod stuff. There is a hell of a lot more money in shopping carts and brackets than there is in grills and headers.:)

As for the Moorhead shop. I have heard the same, they take forever to get anything done. I know of a few shops around that will not even bother with them anymore. Too bad I had hi hopes when they opened but I just don't think they were ready for the demand.

I see this thread is from 2004. The shop Eyeball used is now doing Hot Rod stuff. I just had a license plate guard done by them. It looks good and as pitted as it was I though the price was reasonable. They are in Sauk Rapids, MN. You can email him at chromeshopkid@clearwire.net
