I just bought a 29 model a leatherback. I've wanted an a for years. I bought it at an estate sale near home. I was told that the old man and his family never sold a car they had ever bought. The brother of the deceased told me that he could remember when they'r dad bought it. They used to haul HOGGS in the back seat when they would take them to the slauter. It had sat in a barn since the early 60's butt the wood is almost gone. (that's wy I think no-one bought it) The sheet meatal is SWEET on this thing! Anyway I'm torn between fabbing a steel skeleton 4 it, chopp'n the top, channel'n the body, Z'n the frame etc.. and find'n a restorer that would really love it and maybe trad'n 4 a roadster or sumthin. On one hand I think it would look really cool as a custom butt on the other, these cars are limited number. What do you guys think.

Welcome to the HAMB! I have a 28 coupe leatherback. The official term is 49 A Special Coupe. There is a lot of wood around that back window... That's why I am looking for an early 28 45 A top or a late 29 45 A top to convert mine over where I dont have to deal with the wood. I say do what you want with your car they aren't that rare. Post some pics when you get a chance.

Later- Reece

Thanx 4 the feedback guys, I'll try 2 get some pics on soon. (I have 5 kids and almost no time on my hands) I am lookin 4 some good on chassi ideas. Think'n bout 1/4 eliptical, suicided, split wishboned, 40 ford front, with a typical 9in rear (it'll be hidden annyway). Z'n the frame in back about 9inches not shure about the front.
