Great to see some hand-brush art, Lowcab and Dankyd!

OK, couldn't let the current Car-Toon Art Challenge pass without contributing!

This car I've long been wanting to do a cartoon of; Verne Hammond's '34 Coupe.

I got a little carried away on the detailing; see close-up below. I guess that's the price you pay when you're doing vector art; you keep zooming in on the screen all the time adding stuff. The tool is Adobe Illustrator.

Damn you guy's are all amazing painters. Von Franco, I really dig the fact that you can't tell that piece was done on the computer. A really nice traditional aproach to the medium. Very impressive so far.

Wow-- nice work everyone. Dutch-- that's awesome! VonF-- Wacom rocks! (I tell people all the time that using a comuter w/out a Wacom tablet is like someone trying to play piano with oven mitts on!)

I'magearhead-- you can adjust the sensitivity of the tablet in the control panel/system preference screen. If you're using a Graphire, they do seem a little too clunky for me, but I use a 9x12 Intuos.

Couple of shirt designs I've done for some upcoming shows.

Great start to the show everyone. I feel like a real slacker lately. I've had nothing to contribute. the three panels I painted for Arties Party at the Syracuse Nationals came out great. Everyday I forgot the camera. I do have pics but they are from the guy who took them then made an album on photobucket. They are really small.

Ubermustang, fantastic as usual.

Some of you may have seen this before, but this oil portrait was just published in Communication Arts 2008 Illustration Annual, which I'm pretty happy about. It's a 24"X36" Oil painting of my junk man, Carlton Bate. He's been a HUGE help to me over the years collecting parts for my current hot rod project as well as a few more for the future. He's one of the few left of a dying breed that REALLY cares about old cars and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to identifying oddball loose parts and how to make things that weren't intended to fit together fit together... His yard is a treasure and so is he. He deserved to be immortalized in paint.

The other one is a little teaser detail of a work in progress of one of my favorite roadster... don't wanna give too much away on this one yet. The painting is already sold, but prints will be available when I finish it. It's got a ways to go yet; but will come together quickly once my coupe is on the road and I get back to work.

Jonny

ps- Dig the Harley Mom, ubermustang. :)

looking through his stuff you can see just how much his work has been copied and reworked...

Dude - I have never seen Posada's work.
The very first time I ever did a painting was a "dead" painting for my Spanish instructor. She wanted a banner for the Dia de los Muertos party that she was throwing for all of the Spainish students and she wrangled me into doing it.

It was before the internet - so no Googling for images...but it's super cool to see how close I came to straight up stealing this style....

Great show today.

there are so many people with talent it scares me lol.One thing I would like to say is thanks to a guy who showed me what a wacom was and that is Mike Jang and gave me my first tip.Two is Jeff Norwell for all the phone calls and keeping me from trashing my new wacom and tosing my computer in the trash.Well back to getting my hands dirty in the garage,

Great stuff this week guys! Von Franco,AWESOME! Ger, love the coupe! Gary, Lowcab cool as usual! This a bit O/T, but I just got finished sculpting(high density foam) and painting the menu board for "Georgie Porgies". It's a custard stand here in Oak Creek WI. with a car show every Saturday. It just needs a clear coat and installation. Sorry about the quality of the pics.

Cool stuff Rob, thanks Joel. I don't do a lot of signs(only for people I know). I have a lot of friends who are sign painters and they don't need one more shmuck who thinks he knows what he's doing competing for their bread and butter. Again, great show this week!
