Cylinder #1 or #2?
(They run cold on some.)

Ain't broke in yet.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Take a compression test, to see if a ring broke.
My latest SBC did that till about 4000 miles, then the rings seated and all's fine.

Doc, that's #5...

Man, I hope you are right... I feel I have driven this thing hard enough and long enough (twice to Bako) that it should have been better than that by now...

the guy renting my house didn't even get that far - rebuilt his small block - blew the diff within the first 1000 kms fitted that back up then blew the gearbox - got a new 1 fitted and then the oil pump shat itself - so what does he do - drive it home - - oh well i'll take his money to fix it

if its running allright I wouldn't worry that much about it.
could be a valvestem seal.
could be a little leakage around the valvecover going into the threads.
