The truck is in the middle of a 5 year restoration/street rod conversion. It's in pieces everywhere. Zigs front end, 283, all wheel disc, rack n pinion, etc...
Bike is pretty much all original, changed the mirror, pipes and turn signals. Its cute.

Uh welcome to the HAMB, are those Neons all they are cracked up to be? I know they are not trad cars but I like to hear about any kind of fast car coming out of American factories. I once had a CB450 kinda cool but slow, sell it and get a 400/4 Super Sport small, pretty fast and handles like a dream! Nice shot by the rice rocket, how about some shots with a really "sexy" bike like a Vincent or a Velocette Venom.... Oh yeah back on topic cool truck too wish I could find one for a decent price by me!

the truck was free money wise but came with a big price. my grampa got it for me when i was 14, it was to be my first car. he restored it to original condition as u see in the pic. then his truck pooped out and he ended up driving it until he died about 8 years later.when he died my dad surprised me with the keys to it and he had built the engine at my grampas when he was down there. grampa had cancer and was very sick so my dad was down there for the 3 months he had to live. he didnt tell me anything about it so it was a very special surprise. the engine is out of my great grampas 67 chevy pick up that my half brother drives now. dad says it will be a very ruff idle, i bought the usual edelbrock carb, weiand steath, painless wiring, come cool purple junk (taylor wires, valve covers, water pump etc), got seats out of a mazda 929 light grey power leather. keystone classics for wheels. gonna go with column shift i think. has anyone does anything with the fuel tank in the cab? either relocate it to the bed or make a cover for it? i was thinkin of hiding speakers behind the seat and maybe making a plywood box to hide the tank and put the speakers in it...gotta keep it slick lookin right?

Alicia, welcome, you will do OK around here, Good job so far. Your tastes will change if you hang out here long enough. You will start to lean towards the older American stuff and more traditional styling.

Hey Theodore pull your head out of your ass - you might be surprised to know how many people on here with fat fender type rides have "street rod" IFS. I suppose you think all the so-what guys 47-54 Chevy trucks really suck because they are on S-10 frames? It would be a shame if someone actually installed disc brakes on a car to improve the stopping? Do not even try to count how many people have other subframes or Must II front suspensions on their cars......

Now if you are talking a traditional fenderless rod, it better have a beam axle and some nice drum brakes. An A or deuce must have the solid axle to look right, even with fenders. But on a fat fender type truck like Alicia has, running the stock solid axle is not the best solution. She may design billet junk for the weekend Harley crowd, but I do not think that she has mentioned putting/building her truck into billet monstrosity? At least I hope that is what I interpret from the previous posts.

I have nothing of chrome or billet what so ever on my truck aside from the $20 summit air cleaner....lack of anything else to use. I had a k&n flamed air cleaner but I sold it. Got it for free from work and sold it for $110. Thats how that works. Nothing we make here by the way is billet. Its all chrome, the idea being the bike should look like a drop of liquid metal. No seams, lines, anything....
I however prefer seams up stockings, as I am sure most of you guys around here do also.
So here boys...we should raffle a date off with me to pay for the server around here. I get a date with a studly hamb boy, and they pay thru the nose! hehe
Swf 22 in search of greaser hot rod type, to help fund my endless projects. hot rods are a plus, especially ones with lopey cams and ugly paint!

First off I believe your problem is you ride like a girl..;)
they're not tanks, nor maintenence whores. You bought a monster and probably expected it to perform like a 999, not gonna happen. They need to ridden differently than your garden variety rice rocket. The big thing with the maintenence is you have to check the valves regularly, not adjust, but check. it's usually only every third time that they need adjustment. The key is they need to be adjusted when needed, that's why you need to check them regularly, now if you learn how to do this yourself it's no biggie, if you take it to your local shop they are going to ream you. They are trying to perpetuate the myth. Most Ducati dealers are no better than the Harley dealers as far as their rates.

Now the little old '85 Ducati 650 you see below begs to differ,now if you would like toshow me how fast you little Yamadog is, please step up.

I did all the work on it myself, but I got it used with about 5k on it. The person prior never did the valves or any maintence really aside from oil changes occasionally.
I liked it cuz I could use it as a daily commuter, canyon carver, and a track bike. It fit well, so I got it. Got a great deal on it...
I just expected a Ducati to perform better than a 7 year older, 30,000 more mile, Japanese competitors bike...

Like I said you ride it differently, if you were riding it like a ricerocket then you'll definately go slower. Riding a Ducati in the twisties is all about smooth, keeping your cornering speed up, and using the torque from the motor. If you try and wring it out in every gear and dive into the corners super hard you will go slower. It defiantely takes some getting used to. I went from racing 2-stroke bikes to Ducatis, that was a learning curve. And the handling feels different from you garden variety Yamaha, it's stable smooth bike, where most of the Jap bikes feel twitchy to me. I don't think it was the bikes fault at all. I raced my '85 well into the mid 90's and beat new bikes all the time, japanese and european.... Simply put at the amateur level of roadracing the rider is 90% of the game, don't hate the game, hate the player...
