OK, I made the mistake of posting one (only one) off topic post regarding rockabilly stuff. I was rightfully repremanded for straying away from what the HAMB is about. Thanks for setting me straight.
There are a lot of folks here to get answers about old tin & that's the way it should be. But hey, there are a freakin' ton of new members popping up who are jumping on the kustom culture/rat rod/whatever bandwagon. It's just the way it is and there's no way Ryan can delete all of the off-topic posts.
So why not have a kulture area that will divert people away from the car-related stuff? This will better organize the board and will save a lot of people much pissing and moaning.
I know this isn't what HAMB is supposed to be about...but ya' gotta deal with what it IS, not what it is SUPPOSED to be.

Ryan started this board out of a love and or intrest in Traditional Rods...
I don't think he has any intrest in "Kulture."
If you want a board on Kulture it's up to you to create it. Why should Ryan waste his time on it?

Even more important why should Ryan waste his Money on O/T posts.
If you want rockabilly go somewhere else, this board is Traditional hot rods no more no less.

........."Spreading the gospel of Traditional rods and customs".........
Plenty of other boards and yahoo groups about "kulture," any of which I'm sure you'd be welcomed at.
Personally I'm here for the cars. And to ask stupid questions about cars. And to look at pics of cars. And to ask more questions about cars. And some trucks too. And a couple bikes, but mostly cars.

It is amazing to me that this place “has to be” only for car related posts. But that is neither here nor there, the fact is that people have gotten to know one another on here and whether you like it or not, they share information other than the journal size of a 327. There isn’t a place on earth where people communicate that some element of the personal thought or opinion does not enter. With regards to the money Ryan spends; what do you think the auctions are for? It is the HAMBers who try to keep this place self funded. Ryan has not been bashful about telling us if there is trouble, and we have rallied ‘round the HAMB flag when there is a need. I myself have auctioned and contributed financially, completely unsolicited, because I like this place. I have met people face to face and made friends because of this place. It is not reasonable to expect this board to not have O/T posts, if it happens, it will dry up and blow away. As it is, it is not something bad, otherwise you would not be here. It is a long established fact that O/T posts get more responses on this board than any tech post, watch this one go past four pages...
In short, I will contribute whatever I want to and if someone has something to say, go right ahead. If you don’t like O/T posts, don’t read them, don’t respond to them, let them die on the vine...

Your totally lost. I personally don't want rockabilly here, I want traditional rods and kustoms. I want to use the board for exactly what it is intended for. It's real evident though that a hell of a lot of people are talking about that stuff, the kulture, etc., so something better get done about it.
Yep, Ryan did a great thing & it's his deal, but there are a ton of "kulture" related posts popping up. So why not direct them to an area that is for that stuff? This will get the posts out of the car-oriented threads.
I'm a realist. I see things as they are and deal with them. I don't look at things and piss and moan and wish they were different. Face it kids, all those off topic posts are just going to increase. Better do something about it while you still can.
Woah, got up on the soap box there for a minute.
Off topic = Stay off the board.
I am here for the reason Ryan intented this board, trad rods and kustoms.

You are all a bunch of off-topic trouble makers, and I have notified the HAMB police.
They should be arriving at all of your homes shortly to inspect cuff lengths, measure pompodore heights, and administer a full cavity search (at draglinkcc's request, of course). http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As a sidenote here...Why do you all think I run so many auctions here? It's my Catholic guilt wanting me to pay up for all the o/t I'm guilty of!....The last serious project we attempted was abandoned in 98 due to the all-consuming medical condition my wife developed, and still keeps any serious scale project out of my reach....Thanks to all our friends who allow us to hang out here in spite of this fact....
Hmmm last time I checked Ryan was the owner / moderator of this board. Not you, not me. Ryan often points out in the chat that the front page is rarely more than 5% off topic. Right now it's .066% O/T 5 threads of 75, that's including slightly off topic and the cookbook thread. So quit yer bitchin'!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I dont think of your posts as off topic. Your work is obviously driven by an appreciation for old cars and related hot rod history. I would consider your posts an asset to the board. I personally dont care if you've got an old car or not, as long as you appreciate them. That's all that matters to me and anyone else that's into this stuff for the right reasons. Now how do I roll my cuffs properly?
