Well took a trip out to PA this weekend and dragged home another project. Decent Delivery that needs little. Supposedly was built back in the 60's, driven up until 86, then partially dissasembled. I bought it to turn over and sell, but the car is already growing on me. Would make a pretty good shop truck. I should toss a bed in back because if I bring one more vehicle home I have a feeling I'll be sleeping in it.

Car cas a steel tub, but was originally a sedan, so the from the beltline up is glass. 283 sbc, TH350 and a 57 chebby rear.

As your self-appointed lawyer,I will make sure that you get most of your cars and not have to pay exorbitant alimony in exchange for that neat little truck! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does every car guy (husband) have this problem??!! I have a great wife but when I FINALLY bring home the 35 Ford 5w coupe tomorrow she may have a fit. How do you all deal with a wife who isn't into cars? [I'm probably gonna get a rashin' for this one!!! :-) ]

I really can't bitch too much(I do anyway). I rarely get any bitching. I do all my work at work and cars/projects stay here so the yards not cluttered. I just have a habit of buying cars, especially if they're cheap.
My wife isn't really into cars, but understands that I am. I just try to let her THINK that she comes before the cars(shh! don't tell) and it keeps her happy.

Hey Butch, I saw you towing that baby on 290 on Sunday & almost drove into the Holy Cross football stadium trying to get a better look at it. Glad it's in good hands. Bring it to Amherst so we can eyeball it without dodging guardrails!

Oh, and my wife liked it. She'd change the wheels first thing, though.

Ha!WOuldn't be the first time someone drove into that stadium(I deny all rumors http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif). Yeah, the rims suck. I've never been a spoke fan. Not sure what style we'll go, if any. I might just clean it up, rewire it, put some finishing touches on and drive it awhile. Who knows, for the right price maybe I'll sell it as is.
funny thing, drove all the way to PA and back no problems.Drop the car off at the shop, and on the way home the sway bar fell off the trailer! Thank god for small miracles and that didn't fall off on the way. Sucks towing without it!

If it has a 3" tube main rail, it may be a chassis I built for my dragster partner many years ago. He sold the car to a guy in New Jersey about 10 years ago.

SJ, no tube. It's got an old Total Performance chassis under it. Still holding up good though!

O.K....When I built it originally it had a TCI/Pinto front crossmember, one of the first ones they built. The pivot points for the upper and lower A-frames were all wrong so they took it back and gave him a tube axle front end for his trouble. His car even had those same wheels and the 'glass kit to make a sedan delivery came from Gibbon.

Thanks ! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I believe there is a tube axle with it. I have a ton of xtra parts for it in the cab itself. Someone had started redoing it, and threw all the stuff the took off of it in the cab. (haven't dug anything out yet) There is an axle back there. I'll check today. Any other Identifying marks?

It had about 4" diameter coils in the rear mounted behind the axle. There is no "C" in the frame over the rear axle (I tried to get him to let me do it). His had the cast aluminum step plates on the running boards like the one in your picture, and I remember a plaid interior. I Emailed him to see if he has a photo I can post. My copy got lost in a computer crash.

4" coils-check
No c-notch-check

Absolutely needs to be notched. rear sits way too high.

Here's a photo of how it looked when it left here....and you're right....it sits too high... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Go figure. The inside of the running boards are an orangy red.Must be the same car, way too much of a coincidince

I thought of one more thing that might make it unique. I didn't taper the front of the frame rails where the frame horns were added on. There should be a step on the bottoms where the horns begin.
