Hello all,
I've just pulled out all my left over 1320 parts from my now sold 66 chevelle, and have just begun a new project--a 49 ford driver. It's a two door sedan I bought from a HAMBer down by San Antonio. A 406 ci mouse might make the purists cringe, but she's getting a street friendly cam. and vacuum secondary carb., so with the hood shut no one will be the wiser. A 700r4 with a lock up torque converter should make this affordable to drive too.
We've got a long way to go though, frame rails and fenders are the only thing on the front of this car; a metal dash and steering wheel are the only things inside.
At first, I hellbent on clipping the car, but (because of tips found here) have decided to use other temporary methods to get the car down. Now I can focus on getting it on the road.
As much as I'd like it to look original, it's going to start out far from it.
Have a little experience from my chevelle build (that was a long time ago!) and more recently tinkering with lockers and axles in my toyota that eventually got a set of 35 tsl's... just before i had to sell it. I think this shoebox is going to be around for a long time though.
Happy wrenching guys,
randy
