Close enlarged photo w/o leaving thread?

Since the update, if I click a photo to enlarge and close it, I go back to thread listing rather than the thread I was in. A minor point, but is there a way to skip this?

That not what I get. If I click on a picture once it takes me to the enlarged version with a black background. I have two choices to close it the simplest being to just touch my mouse's scroll button downward for a split second and it takes me pack to the exact spot I was at.

If I use the x to close the enlarged, background version it takes me to the same place as well.

I have no clue what is happening with yours, sorry.

Personally, I still don't like thumbnails and I think they are a pain in the butt to open each and every one of them seperately if you want to see a nice, large version of a photo, and at this point I just skim the smaller version and usually don't bother opening up each and every one of them.
