Yup, thats right, I got the hookup for my hotrod at AutoZone. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I saw that Autozone commercial with Jessie James telling me he shops there I knew I had to check it out too.

I took the fire breathing 450 hp SBC out of my roadster over the winter and just got around to replaceing it. I had a bone stock 350 laying around and decided it would get the roadster down the road just fine.

The Good engine may go back in someday so I wanted to leave all the finned alumnium parts on it, so I figured I would just go to AutoZone and buy the kick ass Dressup stuff they offer.

Chrome valve covers, oil pan, stat housing, dip stick assy, Super cool Kick Ass Sparkplug wire looms( Chrome of course), upper and lower pullys( they had billet ones but hey I am a HAMBer right) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Some chrome nuts and bolts and I was on my way.

We have been joking all week about the JJ AutoZone Special engine package to people and they thought we were serious http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I thought if was funny.

Anyway the car is back on the road for the couple of months of good weather we have left here in Michigan, and runs like a top. I'm sure the Engine dress up makes for about .5 extra hp and it really looks Kick Ass too.

I do have to get the Iron Cross air cleaner nut yet. I guess they are such good sellers they had to back order it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Autozone valve covers http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, I know it was just to get it running but I hope your running the hood and side panels http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif It doesn't matter.

I'm glad you got the roadster back together, because as nice as the 40's is, the Roadster is pure fun http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, don't forget the sunscreen.

MAN I THINK AUTOZONE IS THE ONLY STORE IN MY AREA RIGHT NOW THAT HAS MORE AUTO PARTS THAN SCOOTERS. IF YOU GO TO KRAGEN OR PEPBOYS, IT LOOKS LIKE A MINI BIKE GO CART RETAIL CENTER. I DONT EVEN THINK PEPBOYS SELLS AUTO PARTS ANYMORE. JUST SCOOTERS A AND MINI REFRIGERATORS? WHATS UP WITH THAT?

Near my house it is both Auto Zone and Pep boys that everything but auto parts, as if they have become the next Toys R Us. Too much bull shit that I go to Oreillys.

I have owned mine over 25 years.......so the new has worn off of it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have driven it less than 200 miles in the past year. I got it out the other night to drive it and I had to put the tag on it. It had expired in November 03. Wanting to use it some.......just have not had time http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What can you tell me about the alternator bracket. Did you fab or is it available anywhere. If not bought, can you shoot a couple of pics of the bracket. In the pic where Race is driving. What size are the rear tires? They seem to fill the wheel wells. Thanks.

Yes I made the alt braket. It's pretty simple really, I'll try and get a close up pic of it for you tomorrow. The alt is a small GM unit from a geo tracker.

The rear tires are 285/70 15. I think they fit the car great.

Hey, I opened this thread thinking it was gonna be some topic about Jesse James, and got all confused. Just goes to show ya, never have any expectations 'bout what may pop up here.

But That 'ol Jesse, he's just as much of a money-lovin camera whore as Orange County Choppers. I saw a pedal car with JJ's logo on it, and a training-wheel bike at Costco two weeks ago. Got nothing good to say about either one of those rat shops. Fuckin assholes. Don't get me started.

Didn't this car have yellow steelies and whitewalls the last time I saw it? I miss that look, I found it very inspirational.

Hey, this is America. WCC and OCC did it their way and got noticed. Just pay attention to details of their shows. Remember when Jesse dedicated a project to a kid that had passed away by putting in the "empty" seat. OCC builds several bikes to honor real heros. If the entertainment establishment wishes to through money at them great. They still do what they want to. Guess you kind of got me started. Good thead anyway.

Yes, it is America, God bless that.

I got all riled up and wrote a goddam novel. Now I gotta get a beer and simmer down.

Man I hate both those shops. Fuckin phonies.
