Hello all, I would really like to start off on the right track, so here is a little bit about me. I am 21 years old, live in Hammond, IN and been checking out the H.A.M.B. for a little while now. Right now I'm in the beginning stages of making a '55 Chevy gasser, it is my first project, so I'm still learning as I go along and this car is a definite learning experience. I am a mechanic at an independant shop, so I do know things about cars but bodywork is definitely new to me. That's about all there is to me, take it easy.

I never thought about letting the air out of the tires to lower it. Hmmmm... It's good for 3"... I think I'll go try it.

Jeremy, Welcome to the HAMB. That photo reminds me of the story my old boss used to tell of a Monday morning after a weekend of racing. A car showed up at the shop with the tires deflated and nailed to the wood deck of the trailer. Alcohol may have been involved. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the many warm welcomes, I appreciate it. Right now the '55 is in the stages of fixing the rust. That picture is from the day I picked it up in Fon du Lac, Wisconson. It was freezing and that train was there the entire time I was...about 6 hours. The car came with a locked up 265, a Powerglide and a ton of other stuff. There is a 350 4-bolt that will get the treatment after the body is good, which will be a while, just ask SilentRick. The previous owner put new quarters over the originals which had patch panels on them, along with 2 outer rockers. The floor and those spare parts are off now and I'm right in the middle of fixing that stuff. So it'll be a little while before it's on the road, but hopefully not as long as I anticipate.

Well, look who showed up. Hey man, as long as it takes to get that '55 on the road, you still might beat Rick with his '46 Ford. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Hey, just have Jeremy (Mojo66) build your car for you.

You got a great start there. I understand your theory about fixing the rust, but get that thing running ASAP. It's a big mistake to take a car apart as soon as you get it. You will be much more happy of you can get in a drive around the block, even if it is full of holes.
