How about a H.A.M.B. category where members can report on unsatisfactory eBay transactions ? There have been more than a few posts regarding this lately. Personally, I've made better than 300 purchases there and I've only been burned a couple of times but it might be helpful if we had a frequently updated list of sellers that it would be in our best interest to avoid buying from.
Anybody else see any merit in this idea ? It wouldn't have to be exclusively eBay either. I'm sure there are companys out there that are less than honest about their shit and their dealings as well.

i think this came up before. it was shot down because of one sidedness and the problem with an area dedicated to throwing dirt specfically with business's... the accused cant defend themselves.
an idea, and not a sarcastic one... keep posting your bad dealings with ebay and make an effort to keep a list of your own. ive started mine, and isnt long... but it will come in handy when it comes to purchasing time.
as an aside, what about the sellers rating? i see they have a percentage.. some are at 100% others 99%, all have quite a few sales under their belt. i cant imagine the people pulling scams having good feedback. do you actually read the negatives? is there a pattern in thier dealings?
dunno, i dont use ebay at all... but will be soon enough.

I vote no...
Nothing personal.. but trying to "police" the E-bay world through the HAMB is not a good idea... in my opinion...
leave the E-bay policing up to E-bay...
And remember "buyer beware".
When bidding on an Item, I ALWAYS do a full cavity check on the sellers past E-bay history....
If the seller has 0 or very few transactions... I move on....

I'll vote no as well. Only because if we had a section for it, it would just add more clutter and take up more bandwidth that should be used for more important posts(like some of hanks girlie pics http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

One thing I have found with the last few dealings I've had. People advertise they will take Paypal or money order/cashier check. I don't have a Paypal account because I learned of some rather sketchy security issues concerning Paypal and your credit line, and just don't want the risk. Anyhow these sellers contact me to make immediate payment through Paypal. I tell them I will be sending a money order, as having no Paypal(totally explaining the situation). They return with threats of reporting me as a non-paying bidder. Give me some sob story as to how they need the money immediately. No offense but if that's the case either advertise as Paypal only or sell locally.
That and peopple that want to crank up shipping cost because they're not making what they expected on the bidding. Yeah, that ain't happening.

Forgot to say I'm putting a vote in for NO. One thing it can really become is a bitching contest. Ebay to ebay, HAMB to HAMB.
Often times the most corrupt politics are born of the noblest ideas......

Sorry, I vote NO also. The HAMB is not the place for this.
I use the search function to look at Ebay posts on here to check sellers out.

I have had a few bad dealings on ebay and have found that ebay won't do jack for the buyer. Ebay protects the seller because it's the sellers who pay the fees that line the pockets of ebay. For instance...if I'm a buyer and choose to withdraw my bid, even if I am no longer the high bidder, I get a mark on my feedback record for having withdrawn a bid. HOWEVER, if a seller decides to close an auction, he/she may do so without any repercussions...oh, I should mention that he/she still has to pay ebay their fees!
I have to agree with the prior posts, the HAMB isn't the place...there are other websites that you can log your bitch on, but even if you do check that site before you enter into an ebay deal you are never sure that the seller didn't change his/her ebay name...the three sellers I had a bad time with all use multiple ebay IDs. Caveat emptor...buyer beware!

You guys are right....H.A.M.B. isn't the place to cry about bad purchasing experiences. Does this mean it will stop ?

Start naming names on the HAMB would open up a can of worms, lawsuits against the HAMB etc., end result no more HAMB. Trust me, I have to deal with lawyers on a daily basis, not a good idea.
