Am just about at my wit's end trying to come up with front seats - as in ones that will work in an "A" SEDAN. The narrowing of the body from the B pillar to the A is a force to be reckoned with and so far has screwed up my first three attempts ('96 Pontiac GrandAm, Mazda RX7, and (the latest attempt) a nice pair of black leather '94 Mazda MX-6 ones bought for cash and non-returnable!). Or is there a bench with folding backs option that I'm not aware of? Any help muchly appreciated! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Regards, Dave.

there was a nice seat of MG seats that went on ebay last week, I was out of town and missed the end..
Mini-van rear seats (middle row). there are some aftermarket that may work.. normally for roadster that fold, should work on a A sedan... still have not figured out what i am going to use.. I know it has to be low back so it does not stick above the windows..

I used a pair of SCAT low-back bucket-seats in my A coupe. They look allot like a old VW Bug seat, very comfortable and flip forward and recline.

The SCAT seats are branded ProCar, here is the website and a picture for your viewing pleasure.

1990 Suzuki esteem buckets with the headrests removed welded to a couple of pieces of square tubing.
Rear seat is original though.
Jeep Wrangler rear bench would work as would most minivan type bench seats.
Also, Consider using a Bronco 2 seat track as they fold down and slide forward for more egress room.
Currently, Mine use gate hinges from Home depot bolted to the floor to allow the front seats to swing forward.

I have seen 64-68 Mustang seats used in '32 Sedans, but I guess a Model A is a bit narrower than a '32 so not sure if they would work in a Model A ?

The nice thing about MG seats are the rubber diaphram mounting under the cushion. That gives you a good two inches of movement to help smooth out the road. Also if you check out Moss Motors and don't mind a a stock pattern the seat covers are cheap and easy to do. I'm using them in my A coupe and find they are a very good fit. There were a lot of MGs and finding donor seats should be easy, just have to go to those forgein yards.
Saw a 29 roadster with a cut-down S-10 bench seat.
You have to strip the upholstery and padding for the cutting and welding, but it made for a darned nice seat.
Since the seat was bare cept for a blanket over the springs it was easy to see what was done.
For the most part, just shorten the main (transverse) cross-tubes and shorten the vertical tubes if you want a little shorter seat.
The seat folded forward so the area just behind could be accessed.
I've heard of Ford Ranger bench seats being done the same way.
Ford seats are pretty comfy and well done ergonomically speaking.
If you were careful when you stripped upholstery and padding more the likely the padding could be cut down as well and re-used.

The middle seat in a dodge caravan measures 40 inches from edge to edge and the back seat measures 46" This is what I am going to use in my coupe after I find one. Looks great after you recover and a comfortable. Fold frontwards and backwards for the ladies.
