A friend wants to put an S-10 rear in his 34 Ford. He bought the Chassis Engineering parallel leaf kit.
He wants to get rid of the 55 chevy rear he has now. That rear is just under 60" from drum to drum.
What S-10 rear has that spec? I've heard that the 2wd rear is that size.
When did rear disks become an option?
How about ABS? Does eliminating ABS require any mods or do you just leave wires off?
How common would a posi 3.73 be in an S-10 pu or blazer?

I think disc brakes became an option in '98 but only on the Bravada and Jimmy, maybe some blazers. ABS would not be a problem. As far as the gears you would need to find a truck or SUV that came with the 4.3 to get the ones desired with posi. Also the disc brake rears are a little wider.

I looked at some today, 3.08, 3.42, forget the 3.7 something & a 4.11 out of a 4wd. Decided on the 3.42 to go under my 32. Whats the usual going price for a non-posi?

Early model Blazer and S10 4 wheel drive rear ends are wider than the 2 wheel drive trucks. The spring pads are in the same place on both types. The Blazer or 4 wheel drive truck rear is probably the one you want. I have no experience with the later models.
